I have an '07 FJR and with the stock screen or the tall Yamaha touring screen on the mechanical brackets move about a 1/2" to 3/4" in and out . Very annoying while riding. Does anyone have any suggestions, Thanks

I, too, am hoping someone comes up with an answer, because I just ordered two Cee Bailey 4 plus up sloping windshields. I hope they are not too large for the mechinanism. There must be a problem with the brackets as Yamaha decided to "improve" it for '08.

I've never had a problem with the play in the window. While moving seems the air pressure holds it in place and it doesn't move. The salesman at the dealer where I bought my 06 also sells the new Kawi and said one selling point for the new Kawi is the window doesn't move like the FJR's. Like I said, no problem with mine. PM. <><

Hogdogbleu is correct in that "all" FJR's supposedly until 2008 have play in the window. If you grab the top of the window at center top and move forward to back there is approx. 1/2" to 3/4" play in the window and "W" bracket. Its just the way the mechanism is. There is nothing wrong. Don't worry about it. Now get out of here and go for a ride! PM. <><

I have the Cee Bailey +4 x +4 contour curve windshield and have zero problems - even riding into serious headwinds at 80+ mph. As an aside, don't jump to any conclusions that the '08 won't have any play in them either. I suspect that the windshield mount/transport system is designed to have some play (with that Cee Bailey windshiled, I have about three quarters to an inch of play measured at the top of the windshield in my '07). The reason, if you think about it, is because a completely rigid mount would over-stress the transport as you raised and lowered the windshiled at speed. As the angle of the windshield changes, so too would the loading on its surface. Allowing some play provides a cushioning effect as that loading changes (not to mention a cushioning effect against road debris, birds, rain, wind gusts, etc...). Then again, I could be completely full of crap..! Nonetheless, I do not believe anyone need be too concerned unless your windshield is flapping in like a barn door.

The "w' mount on my 07 has no play at all, my windscreen has a small amount of FLEX at the top of the screen, but it's hardly anything that bothers me while riding. Stan
