Have not seen much about the BMW K1200S on this forum since late 05.

Are there any owners of both FJR and K1200S. Specifically an 07/08 model ?

I have noticed over the years, whenever BMW is mentioned, the main gripe appears to be price.

Currently FJR vs K1200s [full house, including color as shown, heated grips, traction control, electronic suspention adjustment, tire pressure monitoring, panniers etc] price diff in the USA appears to be about 50 % + more than the FJR. If this were the case here in South Africa, I don't think that I would take a second look.

HOWEVER

That is not the case here. There is just 15 % difference here between the two bikes. {BMW with ALL the extras]

Soooooooo mine arrives in time for this weekend [colour as shown]

And yes I am keeping the FJR

Whadayathink ?

Congrats Howard! :good:

If I manage to resurrect my canceled SA trip, I look forward to seeing your new scoot.

I rode one last weekend on a mountain pass. Loved the motor but found the handling of the bike veeery different to the old Feejer.

I'd love to hear your first-hand impressions.

Stef

I've owned a BMW for years. I looked heavily into the k1200gt along with the fjr. Price and the few better reviews convinced me to go the fjr route. That it a good compliment to the fjr, but if I could do it, I would want to go a little different and get an r bike in s trim....again just to be a little more different. Great bike, you'll like a lot.

So my question is: is the FJR more expensive in your economy than ours, or the BMW cheaper?

See, if you're bragging about the BMW being not so much more than the FJR, but the FJR is really too expensive, then :p back atcha!

I think that as the Yamaha importers can pretty much price as they wish, we are pretty much screwed on price.

The FJR is about $17,000.00 and the BMW $20,000.00 USD

Howard

Price of BMW is full house, all extras including paniers
