Around the same time of year as the 08's "Available from December" at dealers. IIRC, some folks saw them earlier at motorcycle shows or special events.Does anyone remember when the 07's were actually available for first hand viewing?

Question - I'm ignorant about this. If the Canadian bikes have the features a guy wants, how do you go about buying one there and bringing it into the United States?Heated grips have been available (sort of) as an option for the '06 and '07 - they are speed sensitive. They are standard equipment on all 'AE' models.Yamaha Canada also mentions "Variable heated grips keep hands warm on cool days or evenings". This is not listed on the Yamaha USA site as a feature. So are we to assume that what's listed as features on the Yamaha Canada site is also available on the US model or is Canada considered an extension of France and rest of the European market Yamaha caters so well to?
In '07 on the 'A" model in CANADA (but not the US) the heated grips were standard. There's no reason to believe that this has changed for '08 based on the published text.
Sneakily......<snip>Question - Canadian bikes, how do you go about buying one there and bringing it into the United States?
Nah...it's a $100 inconvenience charge for all the '06 ECUs MamaYama's gonna be replacing soon.$100 more than the 07. Those new grips must be sweeeeeeeeeeet!!!
Sounds good to me. I will let the newbie's pay for my new ECU. Yep, won't bother me one bit!
You do NOT want to do this. Believe me. Check out the following thread for the reason why:Question - I'm ignorant about this. If the Canadian bikes have the features a guy wants, how do you go about buying one there and bringing it into the United States?

How about buying the '08, and I trade you panels with my cerulean silver? I wanted black all along (just like my recently departed BMW), but won't trade my 450-mile '07 for an '08, even when it surges like a MoFu. Hope Yamaha issues a fix REALLY soon. Later.Black is boring and won't be in my garage next year but a good used 2006 or 2007 model will be.
Bah, wada you know?! You like Orange! :bleh:Black paint on a bike the size of the FJR will end up looking like a big dust ball every freakin day. If it were clean 24/7 it would be gorgeous though.
You know I was looking at the pics and it looks to me that the lower cowling it flat black just like the Raven R1 was. Hmmm that may look nice.

Mad, I don't know about the Gen I's but the Gen II's if you grab the top of the window there is much play. While I've never had this be a problem because I believe while riding the air pressure against the window at speed will not allow any movement. The new 08 has firmed up the mounting bracket to help eleminate this "play" in the window mounting system. Also, noticed the plastic trim pieces on both sides of the front seat and the trim piece that wraps around the base of the tank is now blacked out instead of the nifty silver. Hey, does anyone know when Yamaha will do the 2008 bike un-veiling at Alice's Resturant above Half Moon Bay, Ca.? It was pretty cool last year. PM. <><Hmmmm, wonder if the "new" grips will be able to be fitted to the 07???
And WHY has the screen-mount been altered? Has anyone experienced problems?
