Does anyone remember when the 07's were actually available for first hand viewing?
Around the same time of year as the 08's "Available from December" at dealers. IIRC, some folks saw them earlier at motorcycle shows or special events.

I personally like the Black Bike. Not enough to trade up from my 05. I'll wait and see what Gen III has to offer.

Though not everything was upgraded to the bike that everyone wanted, Yamaha significantly upgraded it's line.

New YZF-R6

New WR and XT 250's

New YZ Motocross lineup

Two New TT's

New Star Raider

And a New Rumored V-Max

It's unfortunate that many of the significant areas in need (particularly rear suspension and comfort in my opinion) were not addressed. But hopefully those issues will be addressed soon.

I think the C14 entry will make the FJR redux a higher priority than it would have been otherwise.

:)

I like that quote. If more people here said that same exact thing, this would just be great.

Yamaha Canada also mentions "Variable heated grips keep hands warm on cool days or evenings". This is not listed on the Yamaha USA site as a feature. So are we to assume that what's listed as features on the Yamaha Canada site is also available on the US model or is Canada considered an extension of France and rest of the European market Yamaha caters so well to?
Heated grips have been available (sort of) as an option for the '06 and '07 - they are speed sensitive. They are standard equipment on all 'AE' models.

In '07 on the 'A" model in CANADA (but not the US) the heated grips were standard. There's no reason to believe that this has changed for '08 based on the published text.
Question - I'm ignorant about this. If the Canadian bikes have the features a guy wants, how do you go about buying one there and bringing it into the United States?

High gloss black :coolsmiley03: was just the color I was hoping for. Can’t wait to see it in person.

Maybe no C14 for me after all, huh TWN? :upsidedwnsmiley: Yamaha wants me back!

Looking at the 360 view right now. Hey, wait a minute, where’s my silver plastic (substitute for chrome) tank band? :wha-smiley:

Black paint looks awesome when is new but is a pain to keep clean and it show all the harlines scratches, plus makes the bike look smaller.

Did you guys noticed that the bike in the first picture at Yamaha's website has part of the gas

thank in silver like the '07s? Probably Photoshoped.

The one showing in the 360 view have it in Black, however the instruments bezel still Silver....

Black is boring and won't be in my garage next year but a good used 2006 or 2007 model will be.
How about buying the '08, and I trade you panels with my cerulean silver? I wanted black all along (just like my recently departed BMW), but won't trade my 450-mile '07 for an '08, even when it surges like a MoFu. Hope Yamaha issues a fix REALLY soon. Later.

Black paint on a bike the size of the FJR will end up looking like a big dust ball every freakin day. If it were clean 24/7 it would be gorgeous though.

You know I was looking at the pics and it looks to me that the lower cowling it flat black just like the Raven R1 was. Hmmm that may look nice.

I've been outed!

My guess is that most of the pictures out there right now are photochopped. Can't wait to hear from first hand observations.

Hmmmm, wonder if the "new" grips will be able to be fitted to the 07???

And WHY has the screen-mount been altered? Has anyone experienced problems?

Mad, I don't know about the Gen I's but the Gen II's if you grab the top of the window there is much play. While I've never had this be a problem because I believe while riding the air pressure against the window at speed will not allow any movement. The new 08 has firmed up the mounting bracket to help eleminate this "play" in the window mounting system. Also, noticed the plastic trim pieces on both sides of the front seat and the trim piece that wraps around the base of the tank is now blacked out instead of the nifty silver. Hey, does anyone know when Yamaha will do the 2008 bike un-veiling at Alice's Resturant above Half Moon Bay, Ca.? It was pretty cool last year. PM. <>< :D

What is all this talk about how dirty/dusty Black will be? Don't we all have wonderful metallic colored FJRs, be it Silver/Blue/BlkCherry??? The Blue and BlkCherry show dirt/dust just about as bad as black will.

Quite trying to rationalize your purchase by bashing the new model, and go wash your bike!

Or simply ride it. :clapping:

Regarding the instrument bezel. In the gallery view it shows the revised tack/speedo dial face and black bezel but in the 360 view it shows the silver bezel??????

Also, in the CANADIAN site is says revised ECU, revised throttle pulleys, Revised 3th & 4th pinion gears, Middle gear damper spring load is increased & Revised rims to accomade new ABS wheel sensors but not mentioned on the USA site.

So why would Yamaha make all these mechnical/electronic upgrades and not offer them in the US? I can't see from a manufacturing stand point to only do it for certian bikes with a region of the world.

I can see them not offering the heated grips for a reagion because that is an easy add on/add off item when they are assembling the bikes at the factory.

I guess we will have to see what it looks like at the MC show in December for us New York folks.

I will post a thread when I go at the end of December.

PS. I called Yamaha Customer Service asking them some of the above questions but they were useless!!
