With a range of 600 miles @55mph from 5.88 gallons, with an IBA approved cell this dual sport has a potential range of 1100+ miles.

This means I could run a 24hour rally with only 1 gas stop.

Whats the price tag for this thing?

0-60mph in 10.6 sec. That may even beat a Toyota Prius off the line and still better it by more than 50+mpg. Tree huggers step aside.

i saw one at bonnevile this year and was told that they were going to sell for around 12,000. last year i was told it would be 1500 over the price of a KLR650. don't know what happened it that year but i am no longer interested.

I've been wondering if there are any diesel bikes. This would be great to have in one of those end-of-civilization scenarios since diesel fuel stores far longer than gasoline. Of course someone would steal it as soon as you parked it outside the local biker bar. Probably would also be great to have for like crossing China on a bike or something like that.

I might be buying one to run off of Biodeisel. Recycle used frier oil into the fuel for the bike. Deisel for $0.30/gallon sounds good to me, and about 5-10% of the current pollution of deisel for that matter.

I'm totally with you on that. I have a bad feeling gasoline (and diesel fuel, propane, etc.) is only going to go up in price. When gasoline stays above $3.00 (and maybe as some predict hits $4-5), the alternative fuel vehicles will come out of the closet and those of us concerned about the environment won't be thought of as kooks - but as visionaries (or maybe visionary kooks). :alien:

Since I use my bike as a commuter vehicle for 90-95% of it's duty, I've also thought about buying a new-erish 600 sportbike with a bad engine, and figuring out how to make it electric. I wound't be worried about distance so much as making it reliable and functional. I think an electric bike would kick ass! Especially if you geared it all for in-town torque with 80-90 mph max speed, and not worrying about a super long range.
