Today was the 10,000 mile mark day. The weatherman said clear but cold...sounds good to me I'm ridin to work.

After a few hours at the shop my boss sent me to our other plant (this never happens) to look at a job. So went out got on the feejer and headed that way, light rain no big deal. I waved to the guy in the pickup truck with the Harley sticker in the back window as I passed him. Well lil did I know I was about to run into a ice storm. I'm not sure how deep the slush got, but it was enough that the Harley pickup got to wave on his way back by. STUPID WEATHERMAN! I took the detour went home and got my truck (sissy) By the way I don't have a FJR sticker in my back window, I think I'm gonna get one.

All ends well with 10015 on the clock.

Glad you didn't go down. Riding on ice sucks.

Here's a tip. Forget the weatherman reports. Do your own weather assessment. For ice and snow projections, listen up to the projected temps carefully (monitor several sources), then click (and save as a bookmark!) on the website below, and see the moisture movement:

This is a moving mosiac graphic of all 156 NEXRAD Weather Radars across the county. Be weather savy! B)

Wow!

Ice, forming by itself, outdoors, in daylight. What's the world coming to?

We had a bit of a chill today ourselves, down into the 50s last night. Supposed to be 40s tonight!

I lit the pilot on the furnace this evening, just in case.

Hopefully were going to finally drop out of the 90s tomorrow and maybe even get the lows into the upper 50s at night ... :blum:

Wow, that sucks...glad you made it home in one piece. That happend to me one tim elast year....MWS completely bungled the forecast and we got 1" of snow right around commute time. Made for a very interesting ride home. I think I was more scared of the other cars then of me going down on the bike!

Why would you beleive someone that only has to be right 30% of the time to be considered and exceptional weatherman? They are always hedging their forecasts so you someone can say they were right at least partly right...

Glad you didn't test exceed the available traction...

It seems as though whenever the forecast for my commute is iffy, I can go with the opposite of what the weatherman predicts. 60% chance of rain? It'll be dry. 20% chance? Monsoon.

When I brought my 04 back from New Jersey through Pennsylvania, the weather for the entire trip was supposed to be sunny and mid-70s. I wound up riding through rain in the mid-50s for at least two hours.

I thought meteorology was a science.

I got it February. I work 55-65 hours a week so other than back & forth to work and the 5-6 trips to the twisties in southern Ohio & WV we took this year unfortunately that all I get to do. I do enjoy every mile of it, for me it's always the quality of the ride that matters. I call it my stress reliever. Thanks for all the weather info, I never want to run into this again.
