1200 miles in Oregon.

Last week I broke away for (4) days, by myself, and did a loop through Oregon. The weather was great

The ride was spectacular. The FJR was the best. Here are a few Pictures of the trip.

My first morning. It was 18deg F when I first got up.

I took over 65 picture but I won't bore you with any more.

For covering the miles on all kinds of roads the FJR is the best bike I have ever owned. Bar-none.

And, ain't a nice, long solo ride just the ticket for mental adjustment?

Since you were camping did you fish or hunt your own food for dinner and breakfast?

Yes, please give us more! I live south of Eugene and there are so many lovely places to ride. I love 126 from Eugene to Sisters. In the summer the "old Mckenzie Hwy" is open and that is a great ride...great view. We have many great day rides on the weekends. have a group of sportbike riders that get together and explore the backroads. AND, yes, show us how you packed your gear. I'm curious since I camp every summer with my husband and friend. They both have goldwings and have no problem stuffing things here and there. But this bike has me stumped. No bungie cord hooks..and on the '06, the rack on back is solid. I can't even make velco loops to put on the rack!!

Said I would not camp but have now purchased a small tent and sleeping bag. Need a few more items to make it work. Only food I am packing is energy bars, so will have to be near a cafe.

I have a large yellow North Face waterproof duffle bag, that I can fit my sleeping bag, hardfoam pad, & tent inside.

I lay the duffle bag over the pillion seat and it extends partially over the FJR sidebags. I have an '04 and can bungie it quite well-I do not have a top case.

I will try to post a couple pictures of the duffle bag bungie set up if warsw doesn't.

Camping alone is fine - I have done it before. However I would rather have someone else to ride with and chat about the day's rides with and joke around the camp fire. It can get pretty isolated and lonely at the campgrounds on a long trip. Also, if I am camping I like to stay at a hotel every third night to get a good shower. There is also a more set up time and takedown time on a trip. Then there is that thing about taking down the tent in a solid rain and packing up the bike. Hey, sometimes you go for the comfort - sometimes you go for the adventure and DEAL with it. Also, tenting can be alot less expensive for those on tighter budgets.

Me - I enjoy the cameraderie of other FJR riders. Almost all have been a pretty good lot. Therefore, my best times on my FJR have been on small group rides. Preferably a long way from home so I have some good traveling to get there. Therefore, an FJR camping tour would be fun.

Anybody up for an extended FJR camping tour?? (Bring yer own tent)

I'm sorry for the delay getting back. I started the post then they changed servers and I couldn't get back on . I finely figured it out and made it back :blink: . Here is a few more picture of the trip.

This is a close up of my pack.

I have a Kuryakyn Grantour bag that I strap to the passenger seat.

I put all my clothes, extra shoes, Travel pillow, air pump and toothbrush etc. in it.

Be hind it I strap my tent and three legged stool to the stock rack. On top of that I strap my

Sleeping bag and thermos. (I use a lot of bungee cords B) .

In the saddlebags, I put the: Air mattress, lantern, cook stove, coffee pot, towels, Paper towels, etc.

I usually eat at restaurants on the road. I will pick up dinner at the last town I go through and get take out and take it to camp. If I camp close to a town I will set up camp and then go into town for dinner.

I do travel with friends when it works out but they are not always available when I can get away. This time they were on a three-week trip to Colorado, which I would have loved to have gone on but, I couldn't get away for that much time. I do, however, enjoy traveling by myself at times. Travel at my own pace, turn where I want to turn, with no one to answere to but me. Freedom!

I have been on all those roads. You are right they are great rides. If you guys get over this way come stay with us. My wife and I own a RV Park just south of Bend near the lakes Hwy. I can show you guys some great rides.

What I did to my luggage rack will probably make you cringe. I drilled two 3/8 holes on the back outside corners of the rack . The rack is made of a real dark gray plastic and the holes almost look like they belong there.
