In my cage, popped at 141 mph, two cruisers across the road, guns out, directly to jail. Learned the difference between misdemeanor and felonious reckless endangerment (NY).

On bikie, several times I've had the cops turn on the lights, pull out and look then turn the lights off and pull back into their lair for a fresh ambush. I'm sure their radio was smoking with calls for support. No MAJOR tickets on any bike yet -- tick, tick, tick.....

There are places and times to elevate speed if so inclined, while distracted like talking on the phone isn't in that equation. If her lines of sight didn't let her see the cop then her speed was probably inappropriate.

Oregon does not have any "automatic go to jail" threshold. The only thing they added was the extended fine of $2103 for going over 100mph.

I pulled a guy over three nights ago in a rental car going 100+, only wrote him a ticket. No reckless, no jail, just speeding. He actually seemed appreciative. I am guessing he was going about 110.

I say guessing because I got on I-205 south at Stark Street, he zipped past me, I accelerated to 100mph behind him and he was visually pulling away from me. So, I accelerated, threw on the lights and he pulled over. Traffic was medium, but he wasn't having to weave which is why he didn't get any other charge.

As for the hot blonde going 120. I don't care how hot she is, 120 in a cage while on a phone? You're getting charged. As for beating it, "oh, sorry your honor, I only thought I was going 110" just isn't going to cut it. She could always hope he doesn't appear in court.

Refound a website I've found useful over the years to try and makes sense of the mish-mash of inconsistent state laws. Clicky here for an orgy of red, yellow, and green highlights; asterisks; hyperlinks; and funky § symbols.

My take is that Florida doesn't have a specific reckless provision in the law, Oregon is sorta-kinda, and Washington is specific, but we get a shout-out along with Oregon about embracing others while driving is reckless. Gotta love the PNW!

I was thinking about how the WRX is pretty much cruising along in 6th gear at around 120. If you do under 80 to 90 in 6th it feels like you're lugging the motor. On top of that, it's the most fun in the twisties!

Would sure seem to be that conditions and driver skill would have a lot to do with if it was unsafe or not. But in either case, being on the phone is not an option. Driving should always be job #1.

Choose the right lawyer and with enough greenbacks in hand will take care of the ticket.

Attorney: Bill, I mean your honor, my client currently works at (fill in the blank) from (fill in the time).

She has been gainfully employed their for X amount of years. She is a single mother doing the best she

can, obviously her livilihood depends on her keeping her license.

She admits that this was a momentary grave error in judgment and she has assured me that it will not happen again.

Judge: Randy, I mean Mr. Jones, can I see her driving record.

Attorney: Yes, your honor. As you can see, she has a clean record.

(Judge looks at the record)

Attorney: Let me also add that she does quite a bit of voluteer work for (fill in the charity) so if your honor

did feel it necessary to restrict her license, we hope you would take this into consideration.

At this time your honor, my client would like to address the court.

Client: (Crying of course while wearing nice outfit to accent various body parts, yet not revealing....her child or children sitting in the court room would help)

Your honor I am embarrassed to be here today. I am sorry for what I have done.

I have not only endangered myself but the public as well. I can assure you it will never happen again.

Judge: Mr. District Attorney, do you have anythink to add.

District Attorney: No your honor. (he and the defense attorney have already worked this deal out)

Judge: Court finds you guilty of 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. Cost of court plus a X amount of fine.

Mam, if I find you in my court over this issue again......you will need to bring your pillow because we have a cell with your name on it. Next case.

Attorney: Thank you, your honor. I also represent Mr. Jones.........(next bs story...)

I love it.......

Of course when I was in the Philippines, the traffic laws were based upon the size of your vehicle.

Whoever had the larger vehicle had the right of way. It actually worked out well......at least for the

2 years I was there. The frequent stops by the police wanting their daily bribes was a pain but.......I enjoyed

the cycling over there..........plain awesome. Its a matter of give and take everywhere.....just a matter

of who is giving and who is taking. (laugh)

And I am talking about the traffic laws for those of you who have your mind in the gutter by now.

Was she popped by the cop for talking about it or was she talking on the phone WHILE doing it and got stopped?
If the former, that'll teach her to blab in public.

If the latter, that'll teach her to blab when she should be paying attention to her driving.
:butcher: :headbonk: :help: :russian_roulette: I'm in agreement with Bounce, when your on the road, you should be paying attention to the road and everything that is going on and how it might affect you.

Drives me bonkers when I see people reading a magazine, talking on the phone, doing their hair or eye make-up looking into the vanity mirror and not paying attention to the road.

In MN its called reckless driving, plus you get the added performance bonus of an automatic license revocation for 6 months. And at those speeds up here you generally get featured in a newspaper or television special interest story. :(

Then the fine increases by so many dollars per MPH over. She will pay for this one.
I know it used to be $5 per mph over, but that was over a decade ago. may have changed now but if not

$325 + base fine + whatever else.

I guess I need to move.

Hijack not intended: Hey wpbfjr and JeffFJR1300: I just moved to Wellington from Deerfield Beach. Let's meet up and/or ride some day!

My wife's co-worker.
A hot blond no less while bragging to my wife on the cell phone how she made it to Tampa from West Palm in two and half hours, (which is about a four hour drive). Got popped by a under cover state trooper for doing 120 in a 55mph zone.

Stupid cagger I know, on a cell phone no less, but bragging about no tickets and then getting popped!!! Priceless!!!!

Anyway hate to see a person get totally screwed. The cop told her he could have taken her to jail, but left her off with 120mph ticket.

My suggestion was one of those ticket clinics I see advertised.

Anyone had experience with one of these?????

Three options: Get an attorney or Get an attorney or Get an attorney.

Geez....you guys are pretty harsh about driving fast. Not sure what kind of car she was in but in a lot of current iron 120 is pretty tame cruising capability given an open road and no traffic. I doubt that there are many corners to worry about in Florida in that area...at least not that I have noticed driving thru there....and it doesn't sound like she was weaving thru traffic if she was talking on the phone, too. I am certainly not in favor of talking on a cell while driving that fast but it hardly qualifies as life threatening behavior in my book. But...she was a blonde, right? :D :D

In VA, that would get you ride directly to the gray-bar inn.

I'd suggest she hire a good attorney.

if she had half a brain she would of said i give you a ******** and we will call it even ................ yea boys think about it .

Gary, Gary, Gary...you got that wrong...its the 'cross bar motel' :D

Lets see..State Trooper got her, eh? In TX, you could make a court appearance, plead no contest and *very politely* ask the judge for some relief in the fine..I have seen this work, first hand....HOWEVER, not for 120 in a 55, I must admit. Tell her to get a lawyer...best outcome she can probably hope for is a stiff fine and the old 'deferred adjudication'..where it gets wiped off her record after X-amount of ticket-free months...

Oh, and what Zorkler said..

"Hey officer! You're cute! :p

How 'bout a fresh warm donut hole? :dribble:

Cream filled if you like. :yahoo:

DAMN IT!

I broke my own rule. No posting after two or more beers. :D
