We ain't got much as far as twisties go up here in Central Indiana at the edge of the plains. But down around Bloomington and Nashville, Indiana there are some nice roads with sweet curves in the trees down in the hoots and hollers. State highway 135 from Morgantown down to the Bedford/Seymour turn off is real nice. Call it a mini dragon. If you are ever not in a hurry and your trip takes you near southwest of Indianapolis, this one is worth the trouble.

While you're on this road, stop in artsey Nashville, and certainly stop in at the Story Inn and restaurant on down south a bit. They have a nice little tavern down in the basement there in Story, Indiana, too. It's just about in the middle of the mid south leg of that stretch of the road. Can't miss it. There's one of the very few stop signs with a 90 turn, and you can't really miss the little old hotel. VERY nice. Not pretty, just rustic and very nice folks with good food. Nice out of the way place to cool off or get a bite.

See you there!

As many times as I've been at the Story stop sign, I've never pulled over to check it out. Thanks for the tip.

I was on 135 yesterday!! Awesome road. I passed more Harleys and Goldwings than cars.

SR 58 is also good. Both West and East of 135. Going East will take you to I65 and home.

Quicksilver,

I was on 135 on Saturday as well. I left Bloominton about 8:45, headed down 446 to 50. Took that to Seymour, ran down to Scottsburg on I65 to check out how my new ride (3 weeks old) handles Interstate travel, then took 56 to Madison, crossed into Kentucky on 421, ran west toward Louisville, took a couple two-lanes to the bridge back into Indiana at 135 and ran it all the way to Nashville. Then it was 46 back home to Bloomington. I was in the Story area at about

3:00 - 4:00 range.

I would have to say that 135 is at its best from 58 (as you mentioned) to Bean Blossom. When I only have a couple hours to ride, 446 to 58 to 135 to 46 back to Bloomington is one of my favorite short loops.

Unless they have changed, the Story Inn usually has live music out in the courtyard by the tavern on Sunday afternoons - at about 2:00 I believe.

How about a small meet up in Nashville this weekend?

Like 10am Saturday at the BP on 135 in Nashville?

I think I can get a nonposting FJR to come.

If I didn't have to do stuff around the house and install stuff on my bike...I would be there. You guys have fun.

I definitely want to visit S. Indiana again...been through Salem, Nashville, and Beanblossum many times on the way home to IL from longer trips.

I can't promise, but I will be there if it is possible. If it looks more promising as the week progresses I will send you another note. Riding a blue 05, silver helmet.

How far are you guys riding on saturday. I might be out in the area, Possible to meet up with you :D

If I am able to go at all I should be able to accommodate whatever type of distance you want to ride. I only live 25 minutes or so from Nashville and usually ride all day on Saturdays. I will be on vacation the entire week next week so it should be a good riding week!

This area looks interesting. I was just looking up this area on Mappoint and contemplating visiting there this weekend! I just might be able to make it there by 10 on sat. :)

Well it sounds like there are enough "maybes" to do this.

Weather forecast looks real good.

Here is a proposed map: (if the link works)

https://us.f2.yahoofs.com/bc/4194b536_11d0b...fOoQ8CBrZkrzvm2

135 S to 58W to 446N to 45E, back to 135

Depending on pace, it is about a 1:45 ride with a couple short stops.

This will be my last ride before swapping out tires. :assasin:

I cannot make the link work (maybe because I am a stubborn Mac user :D ), but I know the route so no problem...sounds good. The only issue might be 45 from Bloomington to 135 at Bean Blossom. I started to run from Bean Blossom back to Bloomington on 45 a week or so ago and a sign said the road was closed? I do not know if that is still the case.

I am good to go. 10 AM at BP in Nashville. May not stay for lunch, Need to be back by 2:00PM. :cownoy:

Anyone familiar with the "Creek Roads"; Lick Creek, Salt Creek, Greasy Creek, 2 others I believe near Nashville? 6 to 12 miles each. Pretty tight, nice if you're into it. 450 out of Bedford is excellent too, but may be too far out for this trip.

Where ever the leader goes, i will gladly follow. :)

sorry, i am usually not a flake, but i'm going to pass on this one. it's the nascar brickyard400 at indy this weekend and that affects my other plans for being in this area this weekend. i'll be down there in the next few weekends.

I have looked at the area North of 45, using Google Earth.

(a very awsome free program)

I have mapped out a couple paths, as a wish list, to ride.

But, I don't want to lead a group down a completely unfamiliar road.

You never know when pavement turns to gravel in that area.

I wandered into Yellowstone forest last week and the pavement conditions kept me below 25mph. (no good)

If someone else has "been there, done that", I am game for a detour.

Otherwise, I'd recommend the group ride stay on "the loop".

I might just go check it out after lunch though. ;)

I have received emails of 2or3 more bikes joining in.(a Blackbird and an FZ1)

Gee,.. there are allot of you in Indiana. I spent 18 years in Floyds Knobs, In. Nice roads there.

Nashville. Is that over by the brownstown state fishing area? I am not from the area. Thanks

Goin' from memory here...

Nashville is east of Bloomington, IN - I believe. It is on IN 135.

Ya gots to look see at the map. I don't live by thems either.

have a fun time - take a pic or two.

Onedriver,

Nashville is in Brown County, east of Bloomington and west of Columbus on highway 46 and 135. Brownstown is in neighboring Jackson county, although I do not know where the Brownstown State fishing area is.
