Pulled into a parking spot and wham. Basic error #2022, never grab the break when the front wheel is turned. I was just distracted and hungry. Might have saved it with the seat in the low position, but I had it up for cruising. Scuffed the vstrom hand guard, the slider, the exhaust in two small spots, and the givi (of all things) - no side bags on bike. SO not bad damage. But I pulled the crap out of some muscle in the back of my leg. It's gonna be purple tomorrow.

And of course my family stood there and watched me pick the thing up. "See motorcycles fall down".

crap.

Sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you're ok. That happened to me on my CB1000 after a ride with my daughter; I thought the kickstand was fully deployed...it wasn't and down we both went. Come to think of it, it was at a Red RObin parking lot also! Let's not eat there any more!

Surprised you didn't hit the mirror. Be glad you didn't have the side bags on! It'll piss you off for about a day, then you won't hardly care. The PO of my bike did the same thing, slight scratches on upper fairing, mirror and side bag, doesn't even bother me.

Did the same thing on my Venture, the first day I owned it! Only I needed two of MY bystanders to help me up with it. Now THAT's embarrassing. (I think it's also the day I herniated my SECOND disk!)

Amazingly though, with all that tupperware, my bike made a perfect two-point landing when it went down: the left floor-board.....and the rear tire. Gotta hand it to those Yamaha engineers.

I have antlers on the bike, the mirror folded. The hand guard from the vstrom took a good hit, but who cares.

So, you roll in here on a Friday and tell us this....Why? <_< Your asking for it, so here it comes....... Oh hell never mind, you probably feel bad enough already :dribble: Falling down in front of God, your family and everbody eles in that F***kin parking lot :p :p :p It could have been worse.

accepted leadership of a Vietnam Moving Wall escort...

pull in to a crowded Waffle House across the street from the truck stop gathering point.

making my U turn through the gravel at the end of the parking to use a parking spot facing out.

spot a 2x4 in my path and try hard to avoid, but front braking in middle of sharp turn becomes "problematic."

witnessed up close and personal by a dozen HD riders and a half dozen LEO's.

and yes, definitely knew I would need help getting it upright.

my own embarrasment was minimized by the immediate assistance and concern shown me by those present and the chuckle at my remarks of "that didn't go well, did it" and "well, if that's the worse that happens today, then it's all good."

zero speed drop, so no damage...not even the air horn...

Dropped mine a couple of weeks ago after 10k miles. Scuffed the fairing, bag, handguard and mirror. Man, am I glad that's out of the way.

Hell at 10mph, just straighten up the wheel and grab the brakes and the FJR is going to pretty much stop instantly. Just don't forget the 'straightening of the wheel' part...

Meh. Chicks dig scars, man.

Reminds me of an incident from a few years ago...

Sooze and I were down in Florida on vacation. We were at a restaurant in Ormond Beach called the Charlie Horse (AWESOME crab legs!!!) waiting for a table, standing around outside having a beer. I watched as a couple of guys hopped on their Harley's (sans helmet or anything remotely resembling protective gear; sigh....) and as they were backing their bikes up, the conversation went like this:

Me (to Sooze): "Here - hold my beer for a sec."

Sooze: "Huh? Why?"

Me: "I'm gonna help this guy pick up his bike."

Sooze: "Huh? Wha..."

BANG!

The lil' feller got himself into a position where his lil' legs couldn't reach the ground and the bike just fell.

There were LOTS of people standing around, too.

It happens to everybody at some point buddy. I did it at work a few years back in front of my co-workers. The Motovation frame sliders are the best 97.50 I ever spent. Other than a slight scratch on my RH saddlebag no damage to the bike. My ego, well it was a bit bruised. Funny thing was the guys ran over and had me and the bike up within 10 seconds, they could have just stood there and clapped. ;)
