In 2006 a local racer/engine builder Steve Hamel went 155 mph on a Vincent. Public radio did a piece on him today here's the link to the story clicky

Included is a video of a dyno run with the bike at full song. Sweet, sweet music. Oh, the story mentions that Steve can't ride the bike in the street. Well maybe not legally but I've witnessed a brief but fast blast of the Vincent on Hennipenn Ave. :shok: :blinksmiley:

The first thing I noticed was he used the dyno to bump start the bike, probably no kick starter to save the weight. At 100 HP, he'd have a hell of a time with kickback - probably break his foot if it happened.

Those open pipes sure sounded sweet. I bet the guy is having a ball with his toy.

To think it took over 58 years to break the record.

I'm impressed. Thanks for sharing.

:)

Wow ! Thanks alot Rick ! I turned it up loud and that sound gave me goosebumps....what a bike and what a cool dude to keep that machine tuned and running so well...very impressive !

Blessings,

Bobby

God I love dynos. Beautiful. But did anyone else notice the wobble in the wheel sprocket?

If he can start it with the dyno roll, then its probably an AC brake dyno. These are pretty expensive, but they let you power the engine from the dyno, and this lets you determine friction losses and do things like use the dyno for starting.

Cool shop.

Sweet sound. Kind like a big ol rotary missing a few jugs..

I really liked the full song sound..

Actually kinda sad that Rollie's record was broken. It will be a sad day if Burt Munro's ever falls.
