As cool as that was the guy could have easily been killed so many times. That thing hauls arse! He is so low, hard to see, and he almost lost it a couple times, the first one going wide into the grass. Other cars were coming close and he started to run stop signs etc and just haul butt with real low visibility for other cagers. After he passed that cop he thru caution to the wind. Why did he go for such a long ride on city streets? Gambler?

Not sure what the ratings are on cart racing wheels, not sure how many do 180mph, but that generates some heat.

That would be a kick on the track.

Thanks for posting Don, that was a wild ride.

If you blinked at 6:50 you'd miss the motorcycle rider in the opposite direction doing a celebratory wheelie...

Personally, dude is a total bonehead. At best he gets his ride impounded and a hefty ticket. He'd spend a whole lot less renting time on a track. Though I doubt he'd have as much fun. Unless he was actually racing on the track.

Oh come on, you moralistic peeps!

You telling me you never drove a twin-Mac powered go-kart down your town's main road?

Ooops, did I just say that?

I like the part at 8:59 where he squeezed between two pick-up trucks. In certain parts of NC they would have moved closer to gether and made him a speed bump.

The guys a total bonehead, but that is a pretty cool go-cart.

I wonder if the cop even saw him?

hmmm - I've got a "spare" FJR motor in the garage; I was thinking about a Rhino UTV, but maybe I'll start looking for a shifter cart chassis instead....

Of course, I'd only drive it on a closed course / race track.

How about throwing it on one of those Razor scooters?

I'm glad the guy in the video put on his seatbelt before heading out on the city streets, otherwise that would have been really dangerous.

I could see playing on some back roads, but through the town and populated areas? Did this guy think he wasn't going to see any LEO?

That thing could kill quickly, but looked fun. Growing up a friends dad had this old opposed twin chain saw motor and mounted it to a cart, it had a little Coleman stove fuel tank that we would pump up to feed fuel. He would push start us with his car an it would light off at about thirty five it was a real hoot. The only thing that has scared me worst is the eight foot hydro with the Mark 35 Merc with megaphones for the exhaust that they had! There is a big difference in eighty on the water than eighty on land!

At 9:00, painted on the pavement under the pickup truck on the right you can just make at the word "SCHOOL". He made that pass in a school zone.

Yeah yeah yeah the guy was stupid.

But.

The little kid in me giggles with glee watching this. My little bro and I used to make go-carts when we were younger. Used to buy dead briggs and stratton engines, fix em up, and had em on a true go cart frame (similar to whats in the video. Of course it wasnt an R1 motor, but we had that thing up to 40 MPH. We got busted a couple of times by LEO coz we were also driving it on city streets. But damn. It was fun! I forwarded this to my bro :)

What a tool. On a track that would be super fun and I would love to give it a go. But on public roads is just plain dumb.

This guy (or gal) is an asshat.

He (or she) ought to take that cart to Deal's Gap and run it back and forth for the record against the RVs.

FWIW, I used to advise a student formula team and we built many R6 powered cart sized cars for competition. I supervised many track days for testing and practice, and "coached" in many races. I don't think this particular cart would do very well on the skid pad. The cart is probably breaking 100 mph, but I don't think it's close to 150, let alone 180. That doesn't diminish the level of idiocy though. Look at how much time is spent in the on-coming lane. I hate folks who do that.
