My son just called me at work...

His bike broke down on the 10min ride to the local community college.

He said that his clutch cable broke...that's all I know. I told him to push it to a safe spot and have one of his school buddies pick him up.

I also told him to call the local Yamaha dealer and order a cable.

For those of you with these era bikes, is it hard to install one of those cables?

The funny thing is, that the person selling this bike for an FJR owner that is deceased had just installed a new clutch cable before my son bought the bike. The seller was in Ohio and we are in Illinois.

...It will probably be harder to find a clutch cable than to install it. :)
He already has it ordered from the local Yamaha place...5 business days he was told.

Hey Mark...I'd watch out for those folks from Ohio
Every FJR rider I've met from Ohio has been a stand up guy...so far.

'Course I haven't met everyone yet. ;)

As motorcycles go, these bikes (XJ600/Seca II/Diversion) are very easy and straight-forward to work on (IMO).

If you need any specific advice, just ask...

Like all cables/etc., routing is important for proper installation.

S/O recently sold her XJ600/Seca II,94?, (Diversion = Euro) w/67K miles -- original clutch cable (of course, I lubed it once or twice).

In fact, most of the bike was original -- very reliable (IMO).
