I chopped EOM-1 down to 252 mils (6hrs, 20min) and EOM-9 down to 275 (6hrs, 11min)
So, which parts of 9 did you keep in. Might you be sharing w/ enquiring minds?

You did keep 1/2 of the best, anyway. The route looks pretty good for lopping part off. Too bad that you'll miss Rte 250. That road rocks! Good on ya' for keeping 56 & 60 in there. You won't be sorry.

Are you still considering zipping down to Burkes Garden on Saturday?

Edited to add: What the hell is that? Riding Rte 64 home?

It's a work in progress..... It will get trash canned if someone else has a better idea.

Just trying to come up with a shorter route to give people options for the late day.

Hopefully, it inspires ideas.

Yep, my soft plan is:

Friday - explore the area between Ohio and Lewisburg with DrewVanracer. (we are: Hoosier Crash Club) :dinamo:

Saturday : get to Burke's Country Store somehow.

(either on an organized ride like EOM-2 or EOM-3, or ride down there and play; then maybe follow an organized path back. I thought we had a great plan last year. The karma just got sidelined by a certain dirt biking adventure. I'm up for trying it again though!. :) )

Sunday : Do a more "Smell the Roses" type ride.

My wife and I are in. She likes to go fast two up, but it scares me. Can she ride with Scab, and then I can take the "smell the roses ride". Hey, I like you, Scab, but not really. We are game for whatever the majority likes. Brisk pace is fine. Hero status for two up - Nope. CCook

Count me in for a two up ride. A nice laid back ride will be just the thing after a long day of riding just to get to the rally. Don't really care about the pace as long as "she who must be obeyed" is happy. I do like to touch the pegs occasionaly but I will do the STN rally in WV the following weekend and will get my faster riding fix then.

Ross at the helm, Rosanne in command.

I'm glad there's interest. A few folks have mentioned the bridge and Lorie told me to other day she was looking forward to that nice series of curves by the Bear Mt park. Will figure out something soon - established route would work too!

I'm thinking a couple of things here. There's interest in seeing the bridge which is great. While Lorie and I have been there, Lexington VA is a pretty nice little town. VMI is there (novel place), Jackson is buried there (if you need to ask his first name, don't bother!) and it's just a neat little southern town. From another post, looks like the Monterey Inn in Monterey VA would be a good place to eat lunch. Also, Lorie told me she really liked a set of curves by the Bear Mt park on 219. So, I'm going to look at a route that includes all of these points.

I'm trying to consider the passengers (and assuming they are wives, girlfriends who, as is true in my case, ride with us because they love us and not because they love riding!) and plan interesting places to go to and stop -- and pilots who are looking for interesting roads.

A quick look shows good roads to/from all of these points. Distance and time might be towards the higher side (300//8 hrs) but I think with the stops it would be acceptable.

Comments?

Jeff;

Our modified saturday route from last year hit the New River Gourge, Highlands Scenic Drive, and Beartown St Park (and nice curves on 219). Hitting Lexington, VA would be a stretch, but might fit the bill for Jim. Do you still have that route (minus the dual sport adventure!)

Wayne

Wayne - that's actually the route we took last year. You're right, this is a stretch. I was thinking Lexington first, then Monterey for lunch, the west to 219 past Bear Mt and the to the bridge by the fastest means and return by the fastest means. Might be a "bridge too far," in which case I'll shorten it (keeping the bridge) to something more reasonable - hopefully with input from folks who have expressed interest in going.

Thanks.

You can knock off a buncha miles w/ 84 south (very scenic too) out of Monterey (Vanderpool) to 39, over to Marlinton and 219 north of the two scrumptous sets of twisties on both ends of Droop Mtn (Bear Town)

Might make the bridge run a little more doable.

Thanks Jim - I'll certainly take a look. The out and back to the bridge is 100+ mi of the trip.

I am reading this, drinking a becks, and wishing my wife and I were attending. Next year, children will be duct taped in the closed and we will be attending
