I'm very partial to supporting Jeff, one of our forum sponsors at Sportbikeeffects.com and sells Starcom units. Love mine.

Jeff also discusses it on this forum here.

He's great at answering questions too. I went from skeptical that a sound system would do what I want and expect to not imagining motorcycling long-distance without it.

Autocom from KEITH at Tulsa Truck Center - great prices, nice guy, forum supporter. I have used mine long and hard for several months and have it mounted under rear seat. Starcom has a lotta fans too. Your wallet will decide but Autocom, Starcom and J&M take the top three votes.

I just use Motorola bluetooth helemt set. About $60 and works with my phone or a pair can be used as an intercomm.

I don't like a bunch of radio and elec junk on my bike, so went this route.

Looks like a nice solution but...

How does that work with a full face helmet?

The microphone sits out and under your helmet?

Lou99 -

I was in Montreal just last week when I went to Americade - just there for an hour or so....

I have a closed face Shoei RF1000 helmet - microphone slides in between the plastic and the molding and it does not stick out (the microphone comes with the autocom and is made for closed faced helmets). I have had reports of very high quality performance as I also have added a FRS radio and a Autocom push to talk switch to talk to other motorcyclist.

You might want to add Softline to the intercoms list. It's in the same price range as AutoCom. I chose Softline a few years ago and have been very satisfied with it. My previous experience with other intercoms leave me perplexed when I hear them praised now. YMMV, I guess.

I am shopping for a new rider- passenger communications system. Recommendations please.
I've been using an Autocom for about 4 years now. Great support, unbelievable performance. There is really nothing like the feeling of going 100+ and being able to talk to your riding partner like they are standing next to you.

My son and I and several of our riding buddies are very happy with the Collett Platinum 900 communication system. We like its portability, runs on a rechargeable battery that will go for 2-3 days of continuous 8-10 hour per day usage between charges, very clear reception up to 2-3 miles, nice intercom connection for talking to passengers and can easily be switched to another helmet, which is particularly nice if you want to use it while dirt bike riding, snow mobiling, etc. etc. Works fine if I plug in my iPod or cellphone. We love it.

I got a new Starcom about a year ago and we loved it. My wife got her own bike and we don't use it at all anymore so I'm pulling it off, if your interested, PM me, I'll make you a deal on it.
