Besides, I think it's cheating to get the right advice. You have to pay your intercom dues. I did, and now happiest with my Autocom.

Yep, J&M, Autocom, Starcom all make quality products.

About the only think I'd say is to stay away from ChatterBox.

My son and I and several of our riding buddies are very happy with the Collett Platinum 900 communication system. We like its portability, runs on a rechargeable battery that will go for 2-3 days of continuous 8-10 hour per day usage between charges, very clear reception up to 2-3 miles, nice intercom connection for talking to passengers and can easily be switched to another helmet, which is particularly nice if you want to use it while dirt bike riding, snow mobiling, etc. etc. Works fine if I plug in my iPod or cellphone. Would have to list myself as a moderately unhappy Platinum 900 owner.

The unit is mono, not stereo, even though it has a stereo plug on its audio cord.

The external battery pack lasts forever on one charge. But you have to contend with another wire.

VOX adjustment requires readjustment at 70-80 and above. Lack of ANY noise cancellation circuitry causes helmet noise to drown out little female voices, like my 9-year old behind me.

Would rate it as OK for the money. But if you rider-passenger (I'm from the USA!) a lot and use their wired passenger option, you have wires everywhere and just ok audio.

Overall a decent value for the price, just decent.
