Ok ....I know there has been more than enough TICKER threads, but here is the deal anyway. I bought an 04 with 34 K miles, when I got it home I noticed a destinct valve noise. I have looked through the service records the previous owner had and never found that the 24k service was complete, which includes valve adjustment. I have never had a bike with a valve noise, and am not mechanicly inclined, so could the ignored scheduled adjustment cause this noise, and if premature exaust valve wear is the actual problem could the dealer say since it has been over 10k since the scheduled adjustment this caused the problem? I sold a Gun to have enough money to do the service and hopfully have enough to cover any other expenses to fix the problem...I have two dealrships in my area an All Yamaha small dealership, (Kassen Yamaha)which sells more mopeds to college kids and sportbikes, and another superstore (Woods Fun Center)which sells and services All Jap. bikes. I am torn between which one to go to aswell. any advise would be apriciated.

You need to have the valve lash checked anyway, so it is the starting point. Git-R-Dun.

If in doing the adjustment, one is not found massively out, you'll know if you're where I am, and that's with getting the repair at some point. Fortunately, there are guys who've ridden tickers for very long periods without getting them fixed.
