I am wondering in anyone has had success with lowering the standard seat height about 1 inch to compensate for short legs. I am 5'7 tall, have a 28 inch inseam and am considering a custom Corbin seat lowered about 1 to 2 inches. If anyone has used a lowered Corbin I would appreciate feedback.

Has anyone perfomed the 1 to 2 inch adjustment with the standard OEM seat with success ? I know they have addressed this problem with the 2006 model because many owners are in the same boat as I.

Thanks in advance for all who take the time to respond. :assasin:

I had a Rick Mayer seat which was about an inch lower than the stock seat.

I since sold the bike but the RM seat was a great improvement over stock.

I'm 5'2" with short legs. After getting some thick soled boots, I took my bike to Bill Mayer saddles in Ojai, CA. The guy asked me a lot of questions, then looked at the bike. It was his professional opinion that lowering the seat would compromise the comfort for long distance riding. He did rebuild the seat, customizing it for my needs, and shaved a little off the sides. That allows my legs to fit closer to the bike and reach a fraction further down.

I'm still breaking in the new seat, which I'm told takes 1-2K miles but already it is an improvement on the stock seat. I'm able to get a strong toe on each side, or a flat foot one side and tip toe on the other side. With regular boots, I can only tip toe one side at a time. Scary, but do-able if you really want to ride the bike.

Email me your mailing address and I will send you my Corbin Close that I am not using and is simply gathering dust in my garage.

The FJR can be lowered at least 1/2 inch and perhaps a bit more without seriously compromising ground clearance, safety or comfort. A place to start is by changing the 'dog bones' and the front fork tube height. There was a thread on lowering here. You can find lots of information by searching. Be sure to set the search date range to 'any date'.

Just think -- the bonus is another opportunity to learn how to do more mechanical things to your bike and you will have a better understanding how things work

I still have the Corbin Close and have already received inquiry form another member. If I do not hear from you by the end of Sunday, then it goes to the other guy.
