I have done some looking around with mixed results so I am just going to post my question. Will a 2002 fuel tank fit the 2005?

Just to be clear--there's no such thing as a 2002 in the U.S. They were designated 2003 models, released in 2002, and would be called 2002 in European markets. "Liquid Silver" tank? If so, it's probably an '03.

I don't have this detailed in the FJR Comparison Matrix, but I'm pretty sure the connectors to the '03 would work on an '05, the mounting points, and form factor are the same.

Should be the same through all GenI bikes. Mounting points and couplings should be the same. Hell, is there even a difference between GenI, II or III? I'm betting not.

The gas will be three years older and the bike probably won't start.

All i can say is the listing says 02, and it is silver. Thanks for the info

Fuel return is different in II and II, isn't it? For tanks, Gen-I only for a Gen-I bike.

But if you're shopping internationally on the tank, 2001 and 2002 in Europe would be the same. Probably. Maybe.

North America started with the '03 model.

CAUTION! Using any tank (or other part for that matter) that was intended for use on a FJR built between January 2nd 2002 and December 26th 2002 will make your FJR much faster! With the only exception being IF (and only if) you are installing it on an FJR with the model year designated as 2001. The Surgeon General has determined that sudden stops from these extreme speeds can be hazardous to your health.
