This is one pretty bike!

I just rebuilt the water pump and serviced driveshaft including the universal joint. I love the bike I just dont have time to ride as much as it needs to be ridden.

It had leaked a few drops of coolant so I decided to nip it in the backside. Replaced boht bearings, the oil seal as well as the leaking machanical seal while I had it apart just for good measures.

Anyone? I know its a tough time of year and all.
Living in Oklahoma City and shopping for an FJR in the last year, you have three things going against you.

1. Wrong time of year

2. Gen I

3. High miles.

I know, I know, FJRs can go 200,000 without a blink, but most motorcycles in this area, including FJR's, are rode less than 2000 miles a year. So you are competing against bikes with less than 20,000 miles.

With the internet only a pocket cell phone away, Google research is easy and the Gen 1 FJR doesn't compete well because of the heat problem and the possibility of no ABS. The Gen II is a no brainer, especially sense you can find them for around $6000 with low miles even in the summer.

Sadly, FJRs and most Japanese Sport Touring bikes are almost worth more to keep then sell. My riding buddy just picked up a 2012 Concours with 4000 miles for $9000. He thinks he got a great deal, but I passed on a 2011 Concours for $7,500 last year because I didn't have the cash at the time. It's a tough time to sell used Sport Touring bikes.

I buy and sell a lot of bikes and right now you could probably get $4000. That is about whole sale trade-in. I know that is not what it's worth to you, but you have to consider what it is worth to you to move on to you next bike.

One last thing, if you are considering a new bike, "now" is the time to buy. You have the most barginging power with both your 05 trade-in and dealer needing to sell a bike in the dead of winter.

I don't mean to be discouraging, just giving a little more my experience. Just for comparision, there is an 07 FJR with about the same miles as yours in the Dallas area with a lot more extras that has been on Craigslist for several months.

I wish you the best of luck.

Beary

I never understood the heat complaint, I ride in Alabama year round and never noticed any heat issues on my bike. I have ridden gen 2 fjrs and noticed no difference in how warm I feel riding the motorcycle.

$4000 is ridiculous lowball for my bike. Wouldnt even consider that as a serious offer. As for trade in, thats ridiculous to get hosed by a stealership. That and I dont buy motorcycles from dealers, too many good deals out there

Anyhow its still for sale. Now its located in Oklahoma city oklahoma. There are several other gen 1 fjr bikes on CL there with higher miles for the same price or more then mine so I fell I am on track.

Located in Oklahoma City now. Will take $5000 cash and leave the cruise control, dual horns, everything except the GPS goes with the bike. Pelican case to mount to the custom rear rack, factory rear rack, saddle bag liners, 2 windscreens. extra saddle bag mounting hardware, its a fly and ride bike. Ready to go anywhere.
