No joke. Why would you think that? This is a joke right?
This could get fun. The subject of heat management has been tossed around for many years. There is no guaranteed fix as no two units are the same. My 03 doesn't seem to have an issue with heat.No joke. Why would you think that? This is a joke right?

Jay,i assume that you already have a 06 heat guard and you want to install it in your 03.Typical forum s***.This could get fun. The subject of heat management has been tossed around for many years. Thank you FJR Commander for your response.
I'm new to this forum and the FJR world, having purchased a 2003 with 30K a month ago. I've spent hours on the net learning about the 2003.
My 2003 is a testical killer.
I understand all this first gen stuff is probably boring to you old timers, but I'm a new timer. Humor me.
My original question was will the 2006 engine heat guard retrofit the 2003. Simple. That's all I would like to know.
Thank you!

With some tricks i guess that it can fit because there in this area of the engine no many differences between the two bikes. If someone here has done this conversion, soon he will tell you about. If nobody has done it you can try to install it and if it doesn't fit well you can install the kit that you already have.Simple
Also, congratulations on your new to you bike! The 03 is the fastest fjr!
Jay - don't get your knickers in a twist. This forum is probably the best on the planet for knowledge of the FJR and all its little issues. It also has some of the best remote friends you could ask for. Along with this there are some members who are "characters", and as with all such people, they can seem a bit abrasive at times....Thank you again FJR Commander for your interaction.
I do not have the '06 heat guard, but have the opportunity to buy one. Apparently no one knows, is not interested, or has not experimented if this will retrofit to the 2003.
No doubt you all have moved beyond the 2003 and do not have any interest in discussing. I get it.

....Will the molded aluminized engine heat guard from a 2006 fit on a 2003?...
Famous last words.So, after . . . , and some . . . , that's it. Well, maybe . . . . Oh, and . . . .
That's funny! Busted. Thanks for the laugh.Famous last words.So, after . . . , and some . . . , that's it. Well, maybe . . . . Oh, and . . . .
Good luck with the bike and welcome to the fold. Btw, I know it's not always practical but keeping that tank half filled really does work at keeping things cool.
We aren't organized enough to pull off a hazing, generally we suck at anything organized, besides, it's boring and we are too old to care that much. However, when a newbie comes along and does a cannon ball into the pool with a loud attitude, well that is kinda like a red cape to bull here. It triggers some kind of a reaction that usually ends up with someone's feelings getting hurt and others that are never heard from again....I fully expected to get the fng hazing at some point, so it's not a problem...
Newguy,Kind of wandering off my original question, but thanks for the info guys.
FJ Commander--Bought one of the kits, just haven't installed it yet.
Scouser--Cut which to fit....the 2006 heat guard or the heat kit? Why did you get rid of it later....testicals get toughened up to the heat?
