I like the seat. Flatter doesn't slant forward. Only problem I dislike with mine.Whats another 500-600 to correct that.
Same here, that seat looks pretty good. Of course, it might feel like sh*t. ;)

Yamaha says the bulk of the work went into managing airflow - in, through and around the bike. It starts at a new intake system and ends at added heat shielding. In between lays revised venting and a more efficient concave radiator with twin fans.

Yamaha sold close to 5000 FJRs in the 2005 model year; with these new updates, we expect demand to remain easily as strong for this fantastically versatile machine.

Damn it!

All those farkes I just did. Now I'll have to redo them...

Hmmm, how in hell am I going to get this past my wife? "Ahh, well, yes honey, the bke is only four months old... but it needs to be replaced... and ahhh... you know those few weekends I spent locked in the garage?? Ahh, well, yeah, I will need to do that all over again..."

OK I'll go again.

I don't really see any solid reason to upgrade, unless the heat is a real problem for you. If the motor, chassis, transmission, and suspension are the same, there is not really much to gain. In fact, with the weight gain (if true, which I doubt, 'cuz 40 lbs don't come easy) it will be a slower bike.

Gear indicator: nice. Adjustable seat and handlebars: nice. New lights: nice. Twin-fan radiator: nice (in FL where I live). Better airflow around driver: nice. Linked std ABS: nice, I think. Sleeker, slimmer profile: not sure but probably nice.

But none of this is a solid reason to make a jump, IMHO. Now, if they also said, "Guaranteed never to tick" then you will find me at my local dealer working on a trade!

My turn! My turn!

Is is me, or do the cans look smaller? Perhaps this is where they get the "sleeker, slimmer profile", because they are the widest point of the current bike.

very nice of yammi to give me such a great birthday present, by announcing on september 28th... :bleh: :bleh:

but, since they didn't go with the yellow they gave rossi for laguna seca, i'm not tempted... ;)

Only one 12v dc outlet. NOT ENOUGH for my farkles. I have 3 on my 05 and with those, still use splitters.

Hope they got rid of the USELESS CRT that is impossible to see in sunlight in so. CA and for a man that is extemely far sighted. :assasin:

The cans look the same to me. I thought the handlebars were the widest point. If thats the case and they have new adjustable bars maybe they aren't quite as wide as before.

There aren't any figures on engine output yet. Maybe they are waiting till the 28th. If they revised the air intake is it possible they have found a few extea ponies. That would help offset a minimal gain in weight.

I don't think they are getting away from the sport side of things I think they have just improved the comfort side of things.

While cleaning up the heat problem they probably inserted a bit of acoustical quality insulation to absorb the ticking. :p

I like the FZ-1.

Exactly what I've been waiting for. and red.

Throw on a bigger screen and some soft bags and I'll be good to go.

Guess we will all wait for ride reports.

The one thing that I think was hinted at (or specifically said) in one of the reports was upgraded instrumentation. That's one place where the FJR lagged behind the other ST bikes. It's not a big deal, I suppose, maybe just electronic "bling".

I've been holding off on my purchase waiting to see this bike for '06. I'm just really confused the most by the color! The adjustable handle bars and seat interest me the most however. Bet some '05's will become available now.

Yeah! WTF is with the color?

Couldn't go with another color? What, every two years similar colors.

Liquid Silver...Cerulean Silver

Galaxy Blue...Cobalt Blue

Not mine. I suppose it's tempting to get the latest greatest, but I will own my 05 for at least 85k miles. Since I'm thinking of getting a smaller commuter bike (FZ6?) that'll be a long time...by the time I get rid of my '05, it'll be considered an archaic has been that I'll still love!
