Can anyone recommend the best place to purchasea 2006 when they come out? Any good experiences in Texas? I know they won't be available until March 2006, but that is fine.

Assuming the PDP will not be happening for 06, this will change the ability to negotiate on the FJR's price quite a bit. Most likely to the buyer's detriment.

Regardless of the above, every year so far the leader in FJR sales, price, and customer service has been D&H Cycle, in Cullman, AL. If your in that area of the country, that is where I would start

.

Do they have a website?

Nope.

Small mom & pop dealership. What they lack in modern amenities and high tech, they more than make up for in customer service. In fact, I think that just recently they started taking credit cards over the phone. Before that, it was send them a check.

You can reach them at: 888-553-3311

Now I live in Arizona and did not buy my FJR from them, although I did buy my 4 year Y.E.S. from them for at the time, $349. The last 3 years they have sold around 50-60 fjrs each year, or something like that. There are many on this board who sing their praise. I have never heard one complaint.

Not sure why it would be to the buyers detriment when availability should be increased - In Texas I have always had great service from YamahaSportscenter in Texarkana - Tony O has a tremendous reputation for excellent customer service after the sale as well. Lake Hill Motors in Corinth Miss. has always had the best prices on Yamahas - super discounted but they don't count on the service after the sale - just my $.02

Thanks for the answers! I will be waiting & seeing the specifics tomorrow and then I will be adding a FJR1300 as a little brother to my GL1800 :p !

Best Regards,

Shane

I live in the D/FW area and travelled to D&H as well. Best price and awesome guy.

Jerold even offered to pick me up at the airport if I chose to fly in to Birmingham.

Availability's not increasing. Every unit that was ordered was delivered. Every unit shipped to the US was sold (excluding some models that some dealers lied about having customers for).

Perhaps a shop that wouldn't work the PdP will now have a floor model or two that they can let linger on their floor. But this is just the appearance of availability. When shops like D&H sold as many as they did, year after year, there's never been a lack of units available. Without a PdP shops might get 1 or 2 floor models on spec and put them on the floor. How does this compare to shops that sold 20? 60? more? Will they spec that many in advance of a sale? Will they discount them as deeply when they take up space and may or may not sell when compared to pre-sold models?

That's how it will hurt those who were willing to shop under the PdP. It only benefits the impulse buyer or those unwilling to commit without a sit.

Since you are in Texas, I'll vote for the Yamaha Sportscenter in Texarkana. Add them to your list of knowledgeable dealers and service for the FJR, which is not that easy to come by.

D&H in Alabama is likely the leader in volume of FJR sales, so you can't go wrong with your purchase there, either. Also the best price for the Y.E.S. warranty extension.

True. Without the PDP, the bikes will be on allocation. Each dealer will get a certain number from Yamaha. The dealer will want to maximize their profits by selling the limited number that they get for as high a price as possible. The general availability actually limits supply compared to the PDP. With PDP, everyone who wanted a bike gets one.

Anyone try to buy an R1? Most dealers got 2 or 3 and they were sold out early.

I bought my 05 at Troy City Garage in, eh, Troy, NY. They're advertizing $11,599 on their site! I can't understand how they stay in business offering such discounts on high-demand rides.
