I agree with Warchild that SP is awesome, would even rather have that then a Boss Hoss!! :D
You are showing your true allegiance there spine60.

Talk about hot bag

Heard from a local dealer that his guestimate on cost would be 14-15K. Just heard on Two-Wheeled Tues.-Greg's Garage that the cost would be $18K :dribble:

Maybe if I lived a lot closer to Spokane Raceway Park, I might be able to justify  But if I were to do trackdays again, I would pick any of the latest 600cc Japanese bikes...they go plenty fast enough on the track :D

Cheers,

Bryce

This will probably be a high demand bike, but don't believe the hype. The R7 was an impossible to get bike when it first appeared, but a year later, a lot of R7's were languishing on showroom floors at substantial discounts.

Issaquah I-90 Motors has had a R7 sitting on display for the longest time-Don't think it's for sale, but by the time they do get around to selling it, it won't be worth much!

all the carbon in the world from https://www.evolutioncomposites.co.uk/ , ohlin damber-all tuned sag/sprung for a 200# pilot, crg levers, many chain/gering sets, kyle clipons, sato rear sets-sliders-spools, ss lines f&r, race pads, airfilter, pc3usb dyno tuned - custom built maps for pump-u4 and mr9 race fuel and lots of Ti hardware ;)

i'm sure there is more, those are just the big items.

the problem with the R7 was that it was just built as a homologation special so that Yamaha could race them. the were down on power compared to even a 600cc at the time. you had to spend another $5-10k just to get it competative with a GSXR. so unlessyou were seriously going to race it it was just a collector bike to sit on a wall at home. :)

and they were not cheap. I think closer to $20k at the time (which was a lot). so they didn't sell...

the new R1 LE is basically what aprilia has been doing with the Mille and Tuono series with good success. Offer a price point model and then offer another one with a few extra goodies for those that appreciate it. the yamaha isn't that great of a deal compared to a Mille upgrade but i'm sure they will sell every one of them. and probably at a premium. forks are about $2500, wheels about $2k, slipper clutch $1k, so it's not too bad a deal but I think last time I checked the difference in price between a Mille and Mille R (factory now) was about $3k for the same modifications (they all have slipper clutches). I had an 01 Mille R for a few months and it was very nice. Ohlins works very well. I have a rear on one of my track bikes.

you'd think with Yamaha owning Ohlins that they'd get a better price on them... ;)

I inquired with Yamaha Canada and they too are sold out.

I wonder if we can source the parts to build our own (in something other than yellow)???

I wonder what % of the LEs were ordered by ee's at dealerships trying to make a buck with resale. One just sold on eBay. Seems like a nasty practice. :angry01:

Got a pic from Daytona Biketoberfest. Yamaha had two of them under the tent.

OK Gentlemen, I would start a new thread for this but I have knowledge of 2 R1 LE models that will be available from a dealer that I've done all my business with for the past 6 years. They will be available at MSRP. The dealership is located here in the OKC area. If you are interested or know of someone who is let me know and I'll get you hooked up with the dealer. I'm not sure when they'll be here, Warchild or someone else may know the approximate delivery for these bikes. I believe the MSRP is in the 18,000-18,500 range. The dealership is not going to ask more than MSRP.
