Hi everyone, yesterday I bought a new V-Strom 2012 DL650a, and this bike needs to be sold.

Over the last three months - I've put this 2007 FJR1300AE - Electric Shift back to stock condition, except for the Cruise Control (put on my Smitty here on the Forum) and a GR3-400 throttle tube (which removes all the low RPM hesitation). It also has a PowerLet outlet and an AutoCom Headset jack placed near the cruise control panel in the left hand plastic. It has frame sliders installed.

This is a high mileage bike - approximately 43,000. I put on all but 2000 of this mileage.

Condition:

  • Scratches on the lower plastic panel, near the oil sight glass. Unless you are laying on your belly on the ground, you will likely never see these scratches.
  • Inch long scratch on plastic near the battery panel. I've covered this with a small decal.
  • Near new - low mileage rear shock
  • bright clear OEM windshield
  • Light scratches on bags
  • Small scuff on tank from Tank Bag
The bike is currently at the dealer in Fayetteville Arkansas - Bill & Eddy's Motorsports having service bulletins applied, as soon as it is done I'll take some fresh photos. The ones attached show aftermarket seats and windshields which have been sold.

I think this is a fair price. The dealer offered $6820 in trade-in value, but couldn't find the bike I wanted so I purchased out of state. They won't buy used bikes this time of year, so I'm back here to try and find a buyer.

The nearest airport is XNA. I will pick you up and assist with the purchase. I also have an RKA Electrified Tank Bag with ZUMO, Sat radio, AutoCom, V-1 radar. iCom GRS radio and CB with NMO Antennas if anyone is interested.

You will want new tires soon. I put on Pilot Powers which have about 20% remaining. Also, the valves have never been checked.

The bike has never left me stranded nor had any failure of any kind. If you like Electric Shift, this might be an ideal purchase for you.

Thanks for your interest.

Very nice looking bike with average miles. Definitely not high mileage. Best wishes with the sale. The new owner will get a great bike and congrats on your new ride.

Thanks for everyone's comments.

I forgot to mention the U32 HyperLights don't work. I made the mistake of connecting a SHAD topcase (with brakelight) to the same wire bundle and probably fried the inline controller. Hyperlight will probably send this free to the new owner. Also, I mounted them off the license plate bar, and up on the fender cover for a more integrated look.

New pictures coming as soon as possible (bike is at dealership right now).

Yea, I have my 2007 for sale with 77,xxx miles and I thought that was kind of high but not too high... yours definitely is NOT a HIGH mile bike!

I see here you haven't really had any bites yet either... I too haven't had any bites and I've got mine at $5,800 with lots of accessories. I think I'm gonna take a lot of stuff off and offer it much lower??

Brick

"Brick" you might want to think about a new bike, and trade yours in. My dealer offered $6820 and I even handed over the title, but when the bike they claimed to have "found for me at another dealer" didn't show up after two weeks - the dealer said V-Stroms are getting scarce. The other dealer who had the color I wanted, wouldn't release it after first saying they would.

Anyway, now I have the bike back and hope someone will come to Arkansas to buy it. Still too cold to start advertising on Craigslist. I'll wait a week and see what happens.

Thanks for the encouragement. Maybe 43,000 isn't high mileage.

FWIW KBB lists the bike for retail sale as $8450, two grand more than my asking price.

Gees, 43,000? Man the rings are just getting seated!!! Anybody out here who rides there FJR knows, this bikes a steal!!

But hey what do I know!!!

Just Sayin!!!

Bike is still at the dealer. They forgot a small part (barend insert). I should collect it mid-week or latest next weekend.

Now I'm going to show you some St Patty's day close-ups:

The tip-over case scratches above were done by the PO. I've had frame sliders on the bike since ~ 2000 miles, too bad the PO did think to buy some.

This is a tank bag scuff which is through the clear coat up near the triple tree. If I'd waxed the bike you couldn't see it.

This small speck is into the ABS plastic, and is on the right hand saddle bag.

This is on the left saddle bag on the trailing edge...a series of small scratches.

This inch long scratch is next to the battery cover. Dime is for reference. I had it covered with a small decal.

You really have to be laying on the ground to see these scratches on the left fairing under the oil sight glass.

This chip is at the point where the two fairing pieces meet under the belly pan.

These scratches on the left side exhaust were from the same tip over that created the case scratches - first picture in this series. It was done by the PO. There were no damages to the luggage or bar end when I bought it, so maybe he replaced the left-side lid...I'm just guessing, as it was perfect when I bought the bike in 2008.

Here's some marketing help for you. Your bike is NOT gray. Gray is boring. That bike is Cerulean Silver. Cerulean Silver is NOT boring but rather extremely classy.

Good luck. I like what you've done with the mods and mounting.

Gixxerjasen - thanks for the tip. You are right, but a little wrong. The color is Cerulean Blue (not Silver). Either way, I think most people will call it Grey.

Something tells me you might own the very same bike

The rain on ST Patty's Day weekend really brought out the blue color. Thanks again for your message.
