Actually, I just got this from a very reliable source...

For 2009 they are going to flip the color schemes and the AE will be raven black and the A models will be that nice dark silver.

My Yamaha executive source (he asked not to be named) said that the reason for the change was twofold. First off, there was too much division between the clutch crowd and the clutchless crowd and flipping the color schemes would help to blur the distinction thereby uniting the FJR community at large.

He said the other reason is that since the AE's riders are the black sheep anyway, it just makes sense their bikes should be too...

I heard they're going to rename the 08 color for the non-AE to "Fastest Black", to shut up all the damn GenI owners. ;)

The AE gets the color moniker of "Lazy *** Silver"

I called my dealer today and he told me the dealer conference where info on the 2009 FJR will be revealed is being held September 7-10. So unless someone's got access to a source in Yamaha, color info and other changes to the '09 won't be available until then.

Most bikes offer a choice so it would be really nice if Yamaha offered 2 colors for a change on the FJR.I could see a red to maroon as one and maybe another hue of blue being nice..

NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH YELLOW!!!
Yeah, Suzuki can offer the cheap-*** SV-650 in two colors, but the double-the-price FJR only comes in one. And yeah I'm pissed about having a "Dr. Pepper" colored bike when black came out the very next year.

Don't take it so hard... Personally, I'd rather have the eggplant color than the plain black any day.
