Hi Guys,

Well, I thought I was finally going to join the ranks of FJR owners when I found a local dealer that said he could get me an 09 from their warehouse by the next day. However when we sat down and started talking seriously, he wouldn't give me much on my trade and wouldn't budge off msrp on the FJR. By the time they had added in all their bullsh*t costs the price was over $18,000 OTD not counting my trade. I told him they must not be trying to sell anything and left. The point of this story is that another local dealer has a left-over 07 AE for a good price. I have been afraid to get an AE but I'm beginning to rethink. Since many of you that own AE's seem to like them maybe I should take the chance and get it. That is the only alternative if I want an FJR because I must trade my present bike in. Buying from a private party is not an option. So what do you all think? Should I get the AE or not? If I get it and don't like it my wife will kill me because she said my next bike must be my last for at least 4-5 years. Thanks for any input and opinions!

Duuuuuude!!! Wasn't it you that I advised to RUN, not walk, away from those bastard RideNow dealerships? Which one was it?

Try Apache, or Extreme. See what they will work out for you.

As for A or AE, it's your decision. I would say that if your gut says the 'A', which it seems to since that is what you first wanted, then I would stick with that.

Why is it so imperative that you trade in your current bike? Why not sell it yourself? And why not buy from a private party?

Have you called around? Maybe you can find a leftover 08 within 300-400 miles that you can get for cheap?

Try LA Yamaha

https://local.yahoo.com/info-20512467-la-ya...-marina-del-rey

Ask for Jim Jeffries.

Then you can ride it home.

It's pretty hard to avoid Ridenow dealerships in Phoenix, they own just about everything. The one I went to was Metro because they were the only one that could get an FJR in less than 2 months. As far as I know there are no left over 08's any where in the greater Phoenix area. I did go to Apache-they told me at least 2 months. As far as selling my bike myself, of course that is an option, but it's a PITA so I was hoping to avoid it. Besides there aren't a lot of used 08 or 09 FJR's available.

That is way too much. Around 500.00 will get the bike shipped to you. Most A's are going for 13 or so. It is a buyers market, I paid 14k total ( Lic, reg etc) for a new AE in Oct. Do not be afraid of the AE it has a good record and I suspect you will like it as much as I do.

There must be a bike available within a reasonable distance from you and with the www at your fingertips...

The positive thing about y/experience with Ridenow is the fact that through this forum it spreads the word that they are a douchebag dealership.

buy this one and have it shipped to you:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motorcycles...%3A1|240%3A1308

you'll be saving a ton of money and have a beautiful 08

Just go ahead and buy the darn thing! :clapping:

Last Nov. or Dec. I went to a dealer that had a 2007 FJR ... I know it had been sitting there for several months,,

I figured he would want to get rid of it before the 2008's came in,,,

I had that dealership order parts for me ,, do work on my bikes ,, etc... I figured I could make a deal..

Anyway when I Tried to talk deal with them on the 2007 ,, they were going to take $200 off sticker ,,

bend me over the table on my trade-in ,,, and then tried to bend me over the table again with the interest rate...

:dribble:

( I had done my homework and knew what the trade-in value of my bike was ,,, They tried to low ball me and

then tell me since it was in such good shape they would give me an extra $200 for it ,,, which was still under

trade-in value ,,,, then they jacked up the interest rate .5% ,,, mid conversation )

<_<

A couple weeks later I walked into another (smaller) dealership ,,, and ask what I could get a new FJR for ??

They knocked over $1000 off sticker ,,, without me saying a word,,,, Ordered the bike and I had it in less than

a month,,( of course it was winter and I couldn't ride it..)

I gave the Concours to my son-in-law for what the dealership was going to give me,,, and got a loan at a better

rate,, somewhere else ,,, and I Really like my 08 ........ :yahoo:

I would say ,,, go for the bike You want ,,,,, Good luck ......

Personal thing on AE, but after riding every bike you can think of for 50 years, the AE is hands-down, the BEST and most ENJOYABLE ride I have ever owned.

The local Yamaha shop in Florence SC has a new 07 AE for $10500. They can't generate any interest in the land of cruisers and boy racers. People that have the AE love the bike. However I think the resale/trade in is going to suck.

I never buy a bike based upon trade-in value, I buy them to meet my riding styles and purposes. I had an 05 FJR and traded it for an 05 YZF-R1 for track riding only. it was a great ride. Also, I have an 06 AE and as in the camp of most AE riders, I like it a lot and hope that Yamaha continues to produce it. It is a solid LDR performer. It is noted that I am an over 50 year old "FJR Vintage" rider.

Good luck on your decision. You can't go wrong with either the A or AE. You can save a buncy of $$s on the AE and still have a quality ride.

Call Cochise motorsports in Sierra Vista Az 520 458 5297

Ask for Cliff he is the owner. He will take good care of you.

He gets a lot of people that have tried to get something

from Ride Now. He will really beat their price, and he will take trades.

Since '09 aren't out yet He was lying as usual with ANY ridenow crap store. Casa Grande has a nice dealer too if Xtreme can't help . . .

Got my 08A for $13,900 OTD with four year YES. There are two 08A's in my area, and another 08AE. They couldn't pull off that stuff here in the Atlanta area. The word would get out very quickly, and they'd soon be out of business. There are so many riders in the south, I'd hold out for the bike of your dreams. For me, I wouldn't trade my FJR for anything. I could easily keep it for 6 years without feeling the need to upgrade. I really don't care for the all-black look. It looks too trendy. The 08 is where I'd be looking. Honestly, I cannot get off mine. I will ride it today, and its only 28 deg. Crazy! :yahoo:

I love my 07 AE, I purchased mine in July for $13,000. You should get it cheaper now.

Turn One Yamaha in Plymouth IN has an '07 AE for $10,999 with only several test miles on it (mine!!). I bought an '08 from them, liked the '07 silver better, but wanted all the ABS & YCSS computer upgrades on the '08. Plus they gave me a good trade in on my '04 BMW.

I, like most here, went looking for an A but stumbled into the AE (07) and never looked back. Keep looking for the sweet deal, l found the smaller Yamaha dealers have the better the deal.

1) The Smaller dealer is looking to move product to keep the factory happy-keep them viable

2) Any product they were paying flooring on could kill the finacials/they don't have anough large margin sales/parts/service shop to cover an FJR on 18 months of % flooring

3) You can speak to the owner-who generally goes to the bottom line on the first call because he knows how tuff the market is and how consumers are too hard to find in this economy to just quote MSRP and let them hang up.

You are in control......some small dealers just waiting for you to call and make his day.

Good luck..Happy hunting.

Ross

I'd tackle the immediate problem and grow a pair and stop taking orders from your wife.

Just kidding. The AE's seem to be discounted heavily and I agree the resale may suffer......but if you're not locked into getting the A model get the AE and save a bunch of money for the more expensive model.

pete, think out of the box. if your bike is not a dog, they are not that hard to sell. i sold my norton easy on ebay, got my reserve price, and paid down the cheap loan i took to buy the fjr i wanted. the biggest joy was riding it home 600 miles! found it on craigs list. shipping is a viable option. go shopping brother, and get the fjr you want for the price you want. you will not regret! cheers, jerome
