That's rather exciting, I think. Schumi has his F1 history with Ross Brawn, of course, and all his years at Benneton and Ferrari, but he did a goodly amount of sports car racing with Mercedes before that, and you know that Mercedes is amped to have a German driver of his caliber on the team. I just hope his neck really is OK. From what little I recall personally, I think fitness in the 40s is not the same thing as fitness in the 20s and 30s.
I recall a race some years back when Mika Hakkinen crashed out in a McLaren Mercedes when his rear wing detached during the German Grand Prix, and the crash was cheered since it left Schumaker's Ferrari unchallenged. How do you think Mercedes management felt about that??!??!? German crowd cheering a German engine crashing out.
