It is not an idle problem because I haven't let the clutch out enough to start to grab. Blipping the throttle will also cause the engine to stop randomly. I am going to ask the dealer about it, but I know what the answer will be when I cannot duplicate it.
You're not listening.

A low idle speed causing issues has nothing to do with the clutch engagement. A low idle will cause problems with simply applying throttle. It will die like the key is turned off.

Adjust your idle up to a minimum of 1100 rpm. If that doesn't fix your issue then start looking elsewhere.

I had the very same problem with my '09... After bugging the cr@p out of the dealership and corporate Yamaha, a corporate service rep was assigned me and helped resolve my stalling problem. They ended up replacing my throttle position sensor and ECU. After this replacement I haven't experienced any further stalling problems.

It is not that I am not listening... the problem is that I am a believer in design. Everything I have found about the bike from Yamaha says idle at 1000 rpm. Raising the RPMs to 1100 may resolve the issue, but it is a workaround. Ever been to a shop where someone working on your car gives guidance contrary to the manufacturer? I never treat that as a resolution... simply a workaround. There is something wrong with my bike that causes it to stall. Otherwise Yamaha would recommend idle at 1100. I like the post regarding the TPS and ECU - because that was my thought from the beginning.
