If having an Iron Butt Rally wasn't enough....there's also the Utah 1088 running at the same time. I'll be in the 3 day version starting Thursday morning as well as others including our own RenoJohn. The 1 day and 12 hour event will take off so that everybody finishes at the same time Sunday morning.

And the RallyBastard will be setting up a blog to where individual riders can contribute pictures and text DIRECTLY to a consolidated place. Plus GPS tracking is worth big points and almost everybody will be running a SPOT unit. I'll post up a link probably Wednesday when I'm sure it's open to the public. ;)

This just in. Steve dropped a bombsheel at the riders meeting and changed the point value of the bonus in New York (take a picture with an IBR rider) and made it worth 90,325 instead of 25,000.

I was standing there and would have fallen over if I hadn't have stopped my fall with my laptop and recrunched numbers.

You could "add" it to your pre-selected bonus list, but not any others. So, people that had say a lighthouse in Iowa on their list anyway...it's more appealing. Somebody that had already chosen a route that involved California or points west of SLC...not so much.

I *think* you'll see a half dozen or so change their plans and make a much straight line to New York tomorrow. I'll be one and bet I will see a couple of surprised looks if I make it to Cheektowaga in time. It's 3900 miles there and back for the one bonus....in 3 days.

Like I'm going to sleep now......

Iggy made it to NY in time, with even enough time to sit down for a quick meal. So did my friend Ken Morton (who's now already in Madison WI). Both they guys attended the start of the IBR in Seattle BEFORE heading home then to SLC and off to Buffalo! Current SPOT locations for 1088 riders

Rider 575 must be having problems, as he/she is at the BMW dealer in New Hampshire.

So is my math correct: it looks like Iggy has about 700 miles to go and 10 hours to do it in...at the end of a three day hell run
