The Wyoming Rally is scheduled for September 16 and 17, 2011 in Sheridan, Wyoming. Join us hunting bonus locations in beautiful Wyoming and Montana. This is an 8 hour rally that has bonus locations in Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota. Join us for a no host dinner after the Rally to share stories of the road and receive the outcome of the rally. All proceeds from this rally are donated to the Kares Program that provides support and teaching to autistic children in Sheridan County. There are no administrative fees dispersed. All participants will go home with a plaque.

Registration is going on now and will stop on September 1, 2011. The plaques need to be ordered on September 1, 2011. If you do not get registered by September 1, 2011 and still want to ride let me know, show up and we will mail the plaque to you. Register through Ridemaster at https://rallies.jasonjonas.com/wyrally.html. Any questions or comments please email me at [email protected].

This rally will be a challenge for the first time rider to the experienced ralliest with many twists and turns along the way. We have spent the past 2 months on the road and have had a lot of time to ponder bonus locations and routes.

Wow this is great, I'm an 8 hour rally type. I've been planning a ride over to Northern Utah about that time so IF I can pull this off I'll sign up soon. Oh boy! :)

This will be a fun Rally with a wide range of rider experience. Two time IBR finisher, IBR 5000 finisher, one couple coming back for an attempt at a three peat overall win, and first time Rally riders.

Hoping to see ya there.

Might see if I can do this one. I stayed the night in Sheridan last Fall, HWY 14 up into the Bighorns is spectacular...

So what about you other FJR peeps... I don't want to be the only Feejeer although the superior Gen 1 will do just fine. I hope I can make all 8 hours

Come on over Ray, heck it's in your back yard. Would be nice to see some faces from CFO in Custer a few years back. - I'm workin' on getting Corwine to ride over too ;)

If I do this one I will be a last minute entry. I have a 1500 mile canyon ride planed with friends over labor day weekend, and we are hoteling it, so I'm planning on that being a $500+ weekend. Also, by the end of that trip, and hopefully not before, my current set of PR2's will be toast, so I will have to put another set of tires on. Who would have guessed I would be going on my 3rd set of tires in 6 months of ownership! Two weeks ago I got back from a 9 day trip with my Dad and his new wife and family, so funds are looking a little tight at the moment. I will wait and see what happens, but at this point, I'm not sure I can afford it! Like I say, this is still in the works, and getting a half day off on Friday isn't a problem to get to Sheridan by 6pm, but I need to make sure I can swing it financially with all these other trips I have been taking, so if I'm there, it will be a last minute entry.

I hope it all works out as this sounds like an absolute blast, and short of I-25, I-90, and the Black Hills area, I have not explored that area at all!

Hope to see you there!

Josh

I'm hoping to come but things have really dried out and our fire season is booming. I'll know more next week. Be good to come down and I'm looking forward to it instead of the WCR.

Some of you know I was gone for a few days.... ya, I was out riding around *again* :) So here's a quick rundown of the happenings:

Over in Wyoming there was a rally being held, a short one of 8hrs so not bad for testing the waters. BTW- rally= scavenger hunt as opposed to "beer party"

A buddy and I decided to head over, but on the way we wanted to knock out a few certification rides. He was going to attempt a BBG= Bun Burner Gold, 1500 miles in 24hrs. I was going to do a 2,000+ (2,000 miles in 36hrs). I had everything routed, time schedules and fuel stops all written out, Rick checked the gas pumps would be unlocked.

So at 0400 we took off from home with the first receipt, 14 hrs later we had 1,000+ miles done. Everything is clicking along nicely. A few hours later though.... Rick 'hit the wall', that is your fatigue level.... he wasn't thinking/acting quickly and needed off the road.

He knew this and had been looking for a room (he was a few miles ahead of me). Nothing to be found anywhere, it seems North Dakota is having an oil boom so all the workers have taken all of the rooms within 150+ miles- crazy. He needed off the road and couldn't do it. The temps were also low 30's, so napping next to the bike was outta the question :(

Anyway- I caught up to him and played shepherd for him, he followed my tailight until we could get somewhere safe.

Soooooo, 2 failed rides, but Rick is still alive and that is the most important thing :)

Next day we leave from Steele, ND and are going to stop by his brother's place in Spearfish,SD. I drop him off there and head on into Sheridan,Wy for the night. Next day is a down day, resting up from the 2,000 miles I had ridden in 2 days.

Friday evening was rider check in and handing out rally packets so we could go plan our route for Saturday.

An 8hr rally is short, but the packet had 23 pages and 71 bonus locations scattered in Wyoming,Montana,South Dakota.... so it's more than I'll go here, you need to plan about 20 stops and still hit the 4pm deadline. It's actually fun :)

Saturday morning was RAIN :( I don't like starting in the rain, it always gives me a poor attitude. Top that off with my gps lost some of my stops, so I had to try and remember them as I was going past the area..... this is fun? :)

If you look at the pics of my bike.... uhmmm, I did about 30-40 miles of *unimproved roads* mud, dirt, rain & gusting winds .... fun?

Eventually I finish and get scored, I came out 9th overall and 2nd most efficient. Not bad considering I was missing part of my route. rally pics

FYI --> DarkSider beat that weird MT bike ;)

Just got home to California tonight from my little ride to Wyoming.

Scott, it was good to meet you(even with that strange rear tire  ). I had a ball, what a fun rally even with the morning rain. I was in southern Montana for most of the ride and it was awesome!!!!

Carl and Jonnie did a wonderful job hosting this rally and their bonus locations were great. Highly recommend this rally next year for anyone looking for a good time in Wyoming and Montana. There are some great roads in these parts!

I will post up a report and pictures soon. Doug
