Just looking at google maps... my. f'n. god.

You can plan a route. But I don't think your gonna do much better than picking a direction and following your nose. One of those trips will have to be down to do the Snake. It's right there!

Okay, to hell with it, I'm in. See if I can't scrounge up some of the other crazy canucks.
So...yer off the fence?

Bob, the guy who is playing pocket pool in every picture, will *NOT* be coming.

He's still on my ***-kicking list for attending a Veterans Day Ceremony and refusing stand. That little stunt costs him nearly all his friends and made him a marked man. He's persona non-grata everywhere in this town.

Who the **** is Bob? **** BOB.

Let's just not confuse him with "**** You Bob"!

I have a loop of around 120 miles up into WV and coming back down 16 to 83. Some really nice twisties through there. Also goes through Coalwood, the home of the rocket boys.

& so, it is WAYYY too early to do any route planning... but I did it anyway because I can (& I was bored).

Right now, I've come up with 4 routes to choose from if you are so inclined to acquire them from me. I've sorted them by mileage. Some of the roads that I've planned are from experience... some just look good. I've done some research of unknown roads to ensure that there isn't gravel roads under the tires of your FJR.

These routes have been planned in Mapsucks, so they are Garmin. I will post up about the routes to see if anyone wants them as time grows closer. That'll also give me a chance to add some gas stations along the routes... & eateries... who can forget eateries!

A short note to Bungee... the fence sitter. Two of the routes contain Rte 16 south of WV.. your favorite part!
Thanx so much for you efforts in putting those routes together for us. That is something I have not been able to do very well, I guess I need alot of practice.

Steve, there are a LOT of dirt roads in this area. Better to route plan. & I know what you're seeing. This area is twisty heaven.

Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of time to ride because I have more than one favorite in this area that are on different ends & on different routes.

I highly recommend Rte 160 between Appalachia, VA & Inman, KY. Take a look at this one on Google maps. I love the Snake... but it doesn't have doodly on this road.

There are big elevation changes on this road, too.

Bob, so many good roads & so little time to ride em, eh?

I'm thinking that we (as in Jay & I) will leave here thurday evening after I get off from work, stay somewhere enroute... & finish the ride to the campground on Friday morning. I'm planning a couple of shorties for the folks that come in on Friday & want to ride after setting up camp. That is if they want them.

Saturday is the only full day that I will get to ride. I plan to make the best of it. I already have a route picked as my favorite.

Is it May, yet?

Steve, Shady Valley is 90 miles (one way) from Breaks taking the fastest route to get there. That is doing no fun riding except getting to the Snake, itself. It would probably end up being kind of a long day ride if you added any other roads. Are you considering it enroute to somewhere else, maybe?

If you are headed south & taking the fun route, I have suggestions for a "must do" ride.

I don't have to do any route planning. I'll just follow you :D

I will tell you how fast that I ride... I ride fast enough not to piss off the really fast folks when they wait up for me. No really, I'm not a pokie but not fast, either. I have fun!!! Well, for me I have fun.
I'm slow, at least compared to most around here. Just ask the 25 bikes I led down the first part of the Snake at EOM. Sure, lets get a guy who, the only time he gets to ride twisty roads is when he ventures south, with the worlds worst sense of direction and make him lead!

Mind you I don't have much of a problem following somebody running at a pace. So long as I stay far enough back that my competitive side stays in check.

Sounds like me. Certainly not the fastest and don't want to be but I do fairly well at not making people wait for me. I'm just in this for the fun... which requires enough speed to make it interesting but not so much as to risk crunching Zoe up (not too mention my tender hide, which if it survived an "incident" relatively unscathed would be subjected to additional risk of being tarred and feathered by the wife).

Ok you guys & gal. We're going down to Breaks to have some fun...nobody wants to wreck their bike...that I know of. So everyone needs to remember to ride their own ride. I'm sure there will be something for everyone. Nobody should ride above their ability.

Well, it sounds like maybe we need to have to have varied groups to ride in. I am fully willing & able to lead a ride... I don't like more than 5 or 6 bikes in my group, though.

I forgot to say... I am fully aware that I am not lightning fast. I can hold my own pretty damn well... but not lightning fast.

If I'm leading & someone jumps in my group that decides that I'm not fast enough, by all means pass me (in a safe manner, please). BUT be sure that you know where you are going.
