She's a beauty Steve.

Your observations in post 10 are spot on.You think you like that cruise now, wait until you're droning across Kansas!!!

Odot is preparing a few new roads to test her on whenever you get a notion to head down this way.

Very envious!!

Looks like that bike needs a good break-in and a nice road trip. I bet the 04' is a feeling a little dejected now.

Have fun!

Congrats on your purchase!

I love mine too and like you the cruise control is awesome, and after my dealer did the clutch plate soak and cleaning it does shift like butter!!

Enjoy.....

Somehow I missed this thread........ congrats, Steve, she's a beaut and I'm almost jealous........... do the 13's come with anti-U-turn software integrated with the traction control?

Nope, it still U-Turns like a mofo! :D

Score!

Got a call from Russell, my new Day-Long is shipping. Doubt I'll have it in time for EOM. Got my fingers crossed.

Yesterday I hit up the bike section on Kijiji.ca (like Craiglist) and saw that a local guy was selling a Givi windshield for a 2013. It's a couple of inches taller than stock, looks to be an inch wider as well as having a nice tint/blackout section along the mounting area. Went over tonight and picked it up. It was on his bike for 2 hours. Not sure if it's any good or not, I'll update tomorrow after I get it installed.

The Givi windshield is a good one!

Very nice quality, polished edges (not like the raw laser cut CalSci), black tinting on the lower section to hide the mount (who designed that ****! You can't clean the bugs on the underside of the windshield around the mount on the stocker), slight flip at the top. About 1" wider and 2" taller.

I'm 5'9" and in the down position, the airstream hits me right about brow height. In the up position its a cone of silence with an eve so slight bit of turbulence around my shoulders. I'd say it's about equal to my 04's CalSci Medium with the tuning block which is the best combo I ever found on my Gen 1. No back pressure either (their was still a bit with the stocker on the 13).

I was prepared to dislike it but I can't really find fault with it. Works for me!

Steve - if your seat has not shipped yet or can be re-routed, you can have it shipped to my place and pick 'er up on your way to EOM if ya like.

I'm hopeful it'll arrive in time. Russell ships as warranty replacement so it blows through customs. So long as nobody screws the pooch <cough>Canada Post<cough> I should have it by Monday. I'm cutting out on Tuesday afternoon. I'd rather sit my *** on it for the trip, but if not, I'll just strap on the airhawk.

Appreciate the offer though.

Okay, that's 2 design flaws I've found on this new bike.

The first, the guy who designed the windshield mount has never actually ridden a bike. It's impossible to clean the underside of the windshield.

The 2nd is more serious. I rode to work today and was really looking forward to taking the long way home afterwards owing to such a beautiful early fall day. Walk out the to the bike, stick the key in the ignition, turn it on and ...

_NOTHING_

Not even the dashlights. No fuel pump, not so much as a click.

It seems that if you lock your forks, its EXTREMELY EASY to turn it another 1/8" and turn on your parking lights, and then remove the key.

****!

This is the 2nd time I've done it, the first time was only 15 minutes and didn't kill the battery. Today I did it, and didn't look back at the bike to see the tailights on; I likely wouldn't have seen them in the early morning sun anyway. After work, instead of going for a nice ride, I got to come home, get my car and the jumper cables, go back to work, tear off all the plastic to get to the battery and then boost it. Now I'm just waiting for Line to come over and pick me up so I can go get my car.

Their was no chance I was going to leave the bike there overnight (were right next to the jail and a methadone clinic.. such a nice neighbourhood....)

Yeah, I've done the park lights as well. Luckily, I noticed it quickly, but I agree it is way too easy.

I raise the windshield completely and feel I can get under it ok for cleaning.
