Maybe this has been addressed before but I didnt see it. Coming from a Gen 1 bike to a Gen III bike it feels like the bike is taller. Looking at the comparison chart here on the site I thought it would be a little lower. My seat is in the lower position. I want to get a Russell seat like I had on the Gen 1 but am a little afraid that the I wont be comfortable with the added heighth. Maybe some of you Gen II or Gen III owners can chime in on this. Maybe the seat is wider on the Gen III then on my Gen 1. Im sure I will get used to it.

Eddie, I traded an '08 against my '13...i took the Sargent seat off the '08 and put it on the '13..feels the same height from the ground, and my stance feels the same with both feet on ground.. BUT...the '13 feels like the seat to peg is a hair tighter. Don't know if they moved the peg location on the Gen III, but i can feel a slight difference.

Went to New Mexico last year and was worried about gravel side roads and some of the parks so i had 1" added to the sole of my boots.....Looks like im going to a ..Kiss concert....oh well....stock seat......my height seems to be going down.5'6"now. Over 18000 miles last year hoping i can wear the seat height down a little....LOL

2013 NICE LOOKING BIKE YOUVE GOT!

According to the specs, the saddle height for the Gen.1 is 32.2. While the Gen 3 is 31.7/32.5

So, with your saddle on the lower adjustment you "should be" a half inch lower than the Gen 1.

Possibly the well-worn Russell saddle on the Gen 1 had enough sag that the stiffer new saddle is actually higher?

Just a thought. I'd bet that Russell could shave a bit on a new one.

YMMV

I dont think so. Im the only one that ever rode the 05 only rode 1 up too. Are the Gen II bikes wider in the seat then the Gen 1 Who knows. We will see after I get some miles on the 2013. I just felt that from the specs on seat heighth that the 13 would be a little lower in the seat then my Gen 1.

I know going from my VFR800 the 2013 FJR felt taller. But this is because of the wider seat on the FJR. Could it be that the Gen1 seat is narrower?

Thats what Im thinking. I noticed when doing a search on here some folks were talking about ordering gen II seats and getting them narrowed at the nose of the seat. Maybe all these winter snacks have made my thighs thicker. lol
