2013 shop manual?

Worst case, order it from Yamaha for ~$94. Check some of the motorcycle parts stores and see if they have the manual yet. Until this fall the only shop manual is a paper manual from Yamaha, all electronic copies (CD, PDF, etc) are copyrights violations. The Forum encourages you to do the right thing and buy the Genuine Factory Shop Manual© and do not support the theft of copyrighted material.

Wasn't trying to sideline one, I just can't find it available at all. Amazon has it on their site for about $40 but it says it's not available yet. I was just trying to see if anybody knew a place that had them in stock for a decent price. Paying over double to Yammy doesn't seem to make much sense.

The Haynes manual (the first aftermarket manual ever) isn't due out until September this year. No other manual other than the $94 Yamaha manual is available right now. Until we see the Haynes manual we won't know if it is better, equal or lacking compared to the Yamaha manual.

Manual info.

I would be very careful about the Haynes manual since there are major changes in the electronics for 2013 and the manual would seem to list all bikes as being similar. Diagnostics have completely changed for 2013 as I mentioned in this post.

I would make the investment and get the proper manual from Yamaha.

Ok, so I went to the Yamaha site and am now trying to bite the bullet and throw down for a "proper" manual...

It lists two different models under the "family" of 2013 FJR1300's. A "FJRADG" and a "FJR13ADCG".

I got no idea which one mine is. Sorry to be such a newbie but those designations don't seem to be on any of my paperwork.

Thanks for your help,

Scott

Have not looked, but i will.....mine is a dealer service manual so i would think it would be there.

A confirmation that it's not pirated IP would go a long way toward running cross-wise with rule 9.

The current, confirmed legal, source (here) shows these prices.

2013 FJR13ADCG Service Manual LIT-11616-26-45 $93.00

2013 FJR13ADCG Owner's Manual LIT-11626-26-56 $20.00

I have an e-mail to him requesting confirmation that his products won't land FJRForum in hot water with Yamaha if the forum is used as a means of "getting the word out".

Here's the e-mail I sent to the source:

Hi. I'm one of the Administrators for the FJRForum.com.

We have had some activity from members sharing you as a source for
discounted, printed, factory service manuals.

Because we are always concerned about being a good "partner" with the
community we have established a policy that prevents anyone from helping
those folks who have been selling digital copies of factory Yamaha
manuals because Yamaha has confirmed that those are not authorized to
general sale.

What I am trying to ascertain is if this is a Yamaha authorized product
so that we can continue to support the public posting of it as a source.
With our high visibility to Yamaha and the community at large, we can't
risk running into problems with protected Intellectual Property or
Copyrighted material.

Will you please confirm that these products are not going to land us in
hot water with Yamaha?

Thanks in advance. I'd much rather contact you directly than ask Yamaha
and possibly create an issue between you and them.
This is his reply, in its entirety:

Negative.

That would place this hard copy into the same piracy category as the digital versions already addressed in Guideline #9. For the same reasons, we will manage it as we do the digital versions.

--update--

FYI - only a "heads up" was sent to the OP after we heard back from the seller. no warns or anything since it was a "new thing" until after it was confirmed.

What is the difference between a "dealer service manual' and the "factory service manual" from Yamaha @$94.00? I ordered the FSM the day I bought my '09 and it is a great source of information, a bit difficult in places to follow but patience, lots of reading and time take care of that.

They're the same. A factory service manual bought at the dealership.

[unless they're selling those black market things.]

Thanks. I've seen Dealer Service Manual mentioned a few times and could never find it listed anywhere. FSM has enough detail for me, sometimes a little obscure but a little extra reading doesn't hurt.
