It is my understanding that one of our forum members who attended this event is among those who completed the coveted 2K-Day, however....

It was not without some *extreme* drama with less than fifty miles from completing his goal, and this drama had him walking for miles and miles along the Extraterrestrial Highway until help arrived.....

... the story will be stuff of Legends!

I heard this tale... It is truly one for history books. Beautiful story, with just enough bromance thrown in to keep it interesting.

Just saw a couple photos of the tire carnage from Alamo, Nevada this past weekend.... holy fookin' crap....

I'm sure the hooligan responsible will post up his photos as he sees fit.

Suffice to say say that one new Michelin Pilot Road III that simply could not "Handle The Load" this past weekend in Nevada!

Almost makes me glad I got to play 'Deer Slayer' enroute to Nevada, I also have a new set of PR3's mounted up, hmmm so that 148mph rating is a load of crap?

There were actually two separate catastrophic failures of rear PR3s at the Team Lyle Nevada Stampede, both on FJRs. As far as I know, they were both standard spec, not the "B" version. Both deflated calmly but quickly while at speed, and each rider was able to come to a safe stop. One of the riders was 20-25 miles out from the finish, and was able to limp home; the other rider was not as lucky, but they'll both post their reports in their own good time.

I just put a set of PR3's on my FJR a few months back (with a "B" version rear). Although it's way too early to pass judgement on the PR3 as a "rally" tire, the details behind the failures certainly gave me pause.
