14 A for $15,500

13 A for $13,300

Any reason not to save the $2200?

Thanks
I had the same decision a couple of months ago and it was a no-brainer, especially since I didn't care about the CC limit and Candy Apple Red is not my favorite motorcycle color. No regrets!
https://throttlemeister.com/app/inventoryapp/yamaha/inventory_view/88-0-325-1.html +1, Gunny; Throttlemeister solves the CC limit issue for $137, here in Phoenix you can get the FJR plastic painted Candy Apple Red for $500. No regrets!
Had my 13 for a year and have not bumped against the cc limit. This was my fourth FJR and by far the best. Save the 2k for farkles.

I guess it all depends on how you ride--I am constantly wanting to use the CC over 80mph so this is a real issue for me and having to put a throttle lock like a Throttlemeister on a bike with CC is just plain stupid (plus it's just not the same). If Yamaha does not give us '13 owners a fix for this I believe there will be a resale issue on these bikes.

It may be as simple as swapping out engine control units ('14 for a '13) plug and play fashion* if you've got your eyes on a '13 and want the 103mph CC limit. Of course, that's a $600 option, but it beats shelling out another $2200 for a one model year newer bike. I kinda doubt Yamaha would shell out money for a "fix" for something they can easily dismiss as "not broken".

*not intended to be a factual statement. Others may chime in on swapability of ECUs and why that may or may not be a good idea. (ahem...ionbeam? you here?)

This.

For me it was the color of the 2014 that pushed me over like a feather (Candy Red being my favorite). I didn't realize the CC limit until after I took delivery but glad Yamaha wised up for that feature. I've crossed the moonscape of Nevada several times and setting the cruise at 100mph lessens the drone of that straight, straight road.

I'm with Bergmen, I like the Red and so does the wife. All the rest of the stuff is just a HUGE bonus. Not sure if I'm going to go with a ES or A model. I want a rebuildable rear shock so we'll see. Dealer should be getting his A and ES in March.
