The campground is taking reservations for cabins now.

BRMC works for me...even if I have to slab it there and back. Unless there is a good campground somewhere along the BRP...maybe around Blowing Rock.

OR...

We could spend the night at the Alleghany Inn and ride the BRP down to 276

In. My vote is for BRMC (excellent food on-site), though I wouldn't be opposed to Lake Moomaw or Breaks again either. BRMC has the added advantage of not requiring reservations unless you plan to get a cabin.

BRMC since I haven't been there, yet. If I ever camp @ Breaks again I will definitely be getting an individual site as opposed to that group site. I did not like their group camping area at all.

 
Maybe I didn't like it because I was kept awake a good part of the night by the wildlife.

 
Yes Joe... but did you ever try to catch a raccoon hopped up on Power Bars? yeah... me neither.
