I bought my brand new 2014 FJR ES in January of 2014.  I bought the YES warranty since it had the new suspension and a bunch of stuff my 2006 didn't have.  I had to wait for it as it was one of the first ones in California.  I now have 91,193 miles on the bike and my horn failed, ****.  I replaced it with an OEM type from Cycle Gear for $12.  All is well now.

This is the first problem I have ever had with this bike.  It's perfect again so I will hope for the best.

My 2006 FJR had a stator fail at 106,000 miles.  The only problem I had with it.  I practically gave it to my nephew at 140,000 miles.  He's still riding it.

Just wanted the FJR Gang know of my serious reliability problems.

I love to hear stuff like that.  My '05 is pushing 80K miles and I have little worry about it.... my biggest issue is NOT actually riding it much due to no more commute as I'm 100% WFH and finally some rainy Wx here in Nor Cal!  It's all good and I'll catch up this summer.

Mr. BR

I too have a 2014ES. Mine was delivered in December 2013 Vin#0000021. I now have 50K on the bike and not one mechanical or electrical issue. Me. BR tipped me off on the final drive moditication using the Star Venture gears. That gave the bike an additional 4mph in 5th gear. I replaced the whimpy OEM horn with PIAA Blasters. At one point I was thinking about up grading to the new 6sp with LED lights but cancelled that idea when I heard about the recall.

My ‘14 was superb except for a failed tps, fixed under warranty. My ‘18 has over 60k without issue, if you don’t count the recall stuff. Mine goes in for trans and switch in a week.

Oh crap.  Now I have to worry about my horn failing?  Will there be a safety recall for this?

Oh wait, nevermind.  I replaced my single wimpy stock horn with a pair of PIAA sports horns back in 2015.  Whew!

My horn went out after just a couple of years.  I was riding with a buddy and honked it to get his attention and thought to myself that the horn was so wimpy I couldn't even hear it myself with ear plugs.  Then I honked it in my shop and nothing.  So that's why I couldn't hear it while riding.  I replaced mine with PIAAs as well.

FLASH ALERT to all CA model owners with gas vapor canister!!  When I made the call to my dealer, Roseville Yamaha, to discuss replacing the front brake switch I was told there is a Service Bulletin to replace the gas vapor canister. That's the POS behind the front wheel at the bottom of the cowling. If you do not have a CA model you can ride in peace!!

My UK 2018 got this recall as well as the brake switch but not the transmission.
