We got the opportunity to finally remove those cheap plastic1300 labels off the side fairings.
Tools needed:
(1) buddy (mine was my pretty wife).
(1) hot air gun
(1) roll off waxed dental floss
(2) rags (use one to splash a little gas on and the second rag for final wiping the adhesive off)
After applying a little hot air to the label, lift one corner with your finger nail and slide the dental floss in behind the label. While one person is performing a flossing action, behind the label, the "buddy" is applying a gentle (strong) pull on the label. Once the label is off, dab and softly rub the rag (with some gas on it) over the area that has the adhesive remnants. Then softly use the dry rag (not paper towel) to remove the remaining adhesive.
Boy does that look much better.
Oh, we also sprayed our front fenders with 3M Paint defender 90000, to protect the leading front area on the fender and fork protection area specifically, from getting the sand blasting effect from the front tire. It's amzing how that milky look (of the spray on the fender) turns so glossy clear. Very nice.
