Workng at the AIMExpo in Orlando this week and while helping set up the Yamaha exhibit I was able to obtain some (not so) super secret spy photos of the new '14 FJR with the electronic suspension. As far as I know, currently there is only one 'ES' FJR in the country and it is currently a display model only for the upcoming motorcycle show season. This one was also seen at WSB in Laguna Seca for the first time and was previously posted on the forum. it is VIN 0001 with a build date of 6/13. There are two other non-ES '14 FJRs also. One is a show display unit (VIN 234, build date 9/13), and the other a Demo unit as of today. I got to be the first to ride the first '14 FJR in the country!

So here is yours truly on the ES model:

>

Here are some close-up photos of the wiring going into the top of the forks:

Here are some photos of the shock, with some wiring going into it:

And a cannister/remote resevoir/something installed on the inside of the right passenger footpeg bracket:

And a new ECU for the electronic suspension located in the underseat tray:

The beautiful USD forks:

And as a comparison, the normal 'A' model's front forks and fender. (Now painted body color vs. black for the '13 model):

I would have like to have gotten photos of the ES controls in the display but the battery on this bike is disconnected.

It will still be under sprung. It will be set up for a 150lb Japanese rider. Just like every Yamaha street bike. Great concept but if you get it you will be stuck with that valving. Just my 2 cents.

Nothing like a little gratitude...

Skooter, thank you for remembering us and caring enough about us to share these pics with the forum. We see all too little of you nowadays.

What do you think of the new color? These pics are really pushing me toward a decision I had not wanted to make for a few more years. I am re-shuffling some of my priorities and finances just in case...

Thanks for the SCOOP. Maybe we oughta start callin' ya Scooper. We've all been wonderin'. Your gig with Yammie has turned out to be quite the blast, ehh??
We need more pictures: MORE MORE MORE....
Ever consider a career in photo journalism???
See ya in Orlando on Sat.

Note: GUYS click on any one of the pictures Greg posted above for a direct link to his photobucket album... and lotsa additional pics. I got a kick out of the little turbocharged scooter.

I like it! Not sure about the black fork tubes but at least they are inverted now. I like the integrated front turn lights.

Thank you for the pictures of the details - nice to see you had help pushing those bikes around.

She just likes his chubby back tire. ;)

Which begs the question, Greg: What do the other folks at Yamaha think about that tire?

Is it a "don't ask, don't tell" kind of thing?

PS - Thanks for the pics, especially of the new suspension. It will be interesting to find out how well it works.

Greg,

Did they also change the front LED turn signals? They look a little different. After looking at the

whole bike pricture again it looks like that didn't change. I was hoping they change them for better side visability.

Thanks for the pictures ScooterG! Much appreciated as we anticpate delivery of the '14's.

Agreed, thanks for posting the photos!

Even though I'm not a fan of red, it seems every photo of the '14 that I see, the color tone is different. In Skooter's photos it appears to have more yellow in it. This is a strong candidate for a bike that has to seen in person, IMHO.

Yes, the indoor lighting doesn't show the real color (in the pic with Skooter sitting on it).

Similar to the color of the '13's, thought that color didn't look good when on the showroom floor, but get it out into some natural light and looks good, just that I favor the red

Thanks for the report & pictures Skooter!

I want to add that the shock and forks probably comes from Ohlins..

Yamaha has bought Ohlins some years ago and she makes electronic suspensions for the BMW for years now...

Also..The very best picture far..!

....Ha! All good things come to an end someday. Those that can't move on are eventually left behind. lol. I still got a good 2yrs of Gen I love left in my bones however. After that it's upward & onward sir.

Nice Pics Skoot --- Thanks for the update on the new model - with the yucky color...

I hope this suspension pans out to be a winner for people, but then again - it looks like more added stuffs to go wrong on what I consider to be a seriously LOW Maintenance Machine....

My '05 with the superior color has been truly an easy unit to own, and I like the no ******** in my life....

Waiting patiently on your skilled words to express your thoughts on the new machine.....
