Can these be made to work with the bikes key?

Yepper,
For an Genuine Yamaha lock assembly the P/N is: 26H-21308-01-00 . It can be re-keyed to fit your ignition key.

Or Helmet Guardian sells locks with TWO different style key offsets, make sure you get a similar offset as the Yamaha. (if you wish to use your Yamaha key) and have them re-keyed to match the ignition (any locksmith can re-key).

Both lock assemblies form HG and Yamaha look identical and is what my brackets are designed to work with:



BTW, for your 2013 model, this bracket will NOT fit your bike, 6 others will. Please e-mail me direct @ [email protected] for options, pitures, links, order form, etc.. PLEASE mention in the header 2013 FJR (or it may get deleted as spam)...

a) there are 2 different lock styles, you have to get the correct one for your key to fit.

2) an OEM key will not fit Helmet Guardian locks. It's too fat. A copy key fits just fine.

On my 04, with the Helmet Guardians, my Yamama key did indeed fit the HG's. I actually bought the HG's at Deals Gap (in 2004) after poking a hole in the bag. My Yamaha key did insert (to a point as it wasn't re-keyed). Yes it was a little tighter than the Yamaha lock but I used it for years without any issues with my stock Yamaha key.

Perhaps a squirt of lube in your locks would help.

I can say, with the hundreds of brackets I've sold SINCE 2005, BEFORE the correct Yamaha part # was found, folks used the HG exclusively, again including myself. (Perhaps they made another key, I didn't) .

My once or twice yearly, FREE SHIPPING in the US is now thru February 2014, save a couple of $'s!!

Been busy on the ES model, kinda been a PIA, but a lock only bracket for the LEFT side is NOW available and in stock. As an FYI, the regular 2014 model, uses the same brackets as the '13 model.
