How red is that Metallic Black bike? never mind I guess its whats inside that counts :)

Oh yeah. I forgot you Kanucks don't get the good colors.

Oh well... Sorry, you are out of the club.

Yeah, no red for Canada. The non-ES version is a med metallic brown, close to red but still not red.

The 2014 Black i believe is very close to the 2009 metallic black and I've always liked how the '09 looked.

I think I'll happy with the black, but as was said, it's what's inside that counts.

At first, I didn't quite like the FJR in black, but it grew on me. I'm now actually very happy with the way it looks. The upside is that black makes it very easy to color-match accessories. :)
It' going to be one long winter...

Here's one of the great things about this particular situation: I get to get a whole new set of farkles, taking into account what I learned first time around.

For instance - one of the first things I need is a RoadRunner-built fuse panel bracket for under the rear seat. I like gadgets and heated gear, so power is an early need. This means a fuse panel and a way to mount it.

So second thing to order is an Eastern Beaver fuse panel. I got a Centech on the 09, but the EB unit is way nicer and I have one on my VStrom 1000.

Next up is another Zumo 550 mount. I think I'd like to get the locking one from Touratech, but we'll see. The stock Garmin unit is relatively inexpensive and readily available. It also means getting the necessary Ram thing for the mount to attach to. On the 09 I had a bracket that bolted onto the forward fuel tank bolts.

See what I mean? Lots of choices and new stuff to agonize over before ordering. I haven't yet touched on windscreen, tires, topbox, tankbag, frame sliders/canyon cages, and lots more little stuff. That'll keep me busy over the winter.

Just thinking: congrats on the new purchase. How sad that you can't ride it. I'd freak out. I don't know that I could spend that kinda money to only be able to ride it a few months in the summer. I'd lose it for sure. As a matter of fact, this is my fav. time of the year for riding. Temps in the 70's every day and wall to wall sunshine. I'll be taking the FJR to work all week. Hope your winter is a short one with a couple of those "Indian summer" days in between.

Well, I managed to stretch the season out this year to the first weekend of November and with luck we could be back on the road in mid-March.

Yeah it's tough waiting 4 or 5 months (or 6 months some years) for riding season to start again. Winter is for dreaming, researching and buying farkles; and planning trips - that's the only way to make it through.

I commute every day to work during riding season and usually have 3 major trips each year, so I do get plenty of miles in.

One of the upsides of buying this time of year, is that the dealers are usually motivated to unload inventory and will make a deal. Pro-Am here in Calgary was extra motivated as they're moving to a new location in a month.

My wife and I have talked about buying an enclosed trailer for 2 bikes and haring off south to Arizona or somewhere like that in the winter ...
