Well that was the push I needed. Put my deposit down with BBK and bought my flight. $10,471 OTD. No tax collected from them so I'll have to wait and see about that. I was really getting serious about a 2016 ES but with a savings like that I'll pass on the ES, 6 speed, and Slipper. I didn't really care for the blue anyway and the 2017 would have just been another $1000 to $1500. I'm going to miss my 2009AE but I need cruise more. Going back to using the foot lever is going to suck in the twisties. When I'm getting after it I keep my feet on the rear pegs so I can scrape the others to my hearts content. I'm not big on the Graphite either but at that price I could paint it any color I want and get a RDL too. I'm to cheap to paint it though but one came dream. Seems trivial but I'm a little concerned about the break in. 900 miles when the 1st oil change is at 600. Should be fine but it does bring out the nervous Ned in me. Well, here's hoping all goes as planned and the ride home is trouble free. Thanks for the heads up.

My AE took a crap just after 100K (burned intake valve - didn't do the 75K valve check - yes, I'm a dumbass) and I ended up with an awesome '08 A that I bought from a forum member. Like you, I knew I would miss my AE and that has panned out. But, there are advantages to the A, it's just taking me a little time to learn how to harness her properly. Definitely a different animal in the twisties, just have to set up and engine brake differently going in... I'm still learning. It's not a matter of not me knowing how. I ride a V-strom also that is obviously a manual shift and I am very adept at throwing her around in the twisties. But the size of FJR makes it less forgiving. It is has definitely been a learning curve (pardon the pun please) coming from the AE to the A.

Also, I REALLY miss not being able to snap pictures on the fly like I did with the AE. It can be done with the A obviously, but it was just so simple having that control with the foot lever while the left hand was playing rolling tripod.

All that being said, congrats to all of you who have jumped in on this amazing deal! What an awesome bike for an even more AWESOME price! Now get to farkling!

BBK Motorsports in Elgin,IL has the 2015 FJR for $9990.00. I just bought one this weekend, out the door price with prep and destination fees $10,800.They have a fly and ride program, they gave me an additional $250.00 to fly in and ride it home.

The GM said Yamaha had a surplus of nearly 100 in the Chicago area, BBK took 50 of them and a dealer in Indiana too the other 50.

BBK has 35 of them left as of Saturday.

Found the deal on Cycle Trader.

If you're looking for a new one at a great price, check them out!
Hi FNG!

I did the same thing, great ride, great deal! I worked at BBK this past summer (inventory) and found everyone there to be straight up, fine, fine people. I really enjoyed the experience.

BTW, my wife and I are the one's hosting BBK's Fly-n-Ride. We would meet a buyer, put them up at the Swiss Hotel (Chicago), take them out to dinner, and get them on their way next morning to the dealership.

I grew up in St Paul, a small world, to be sure! I've driven through Fremont more than a few times. Nice to see a fellow Nebraskan here!

If interested, we posted an ad on the Bay Area Riders Forum here.

We will be posting an ad on fjrforum.com in the coming days for additional exposure.

Thanks for posting!

Patrick

Chicago,

Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to meet you when I flew in. I flew in on a Saturday morning and used Uber to get the BBK. They were great to deal with, no issues at all.

I've been to St. Paul, my grandparents lived in Wolbach and then moved to a retirement home in St. Paul.

You are so right........it's a small world.

If the whole point of this exercise is to get cruise control and you are really smitten with the AE model, I think you would have been better off buying the McCruise. Even having it professionally installed I would think it would only have been about $1500.

I haven't been on the forum for awhile. So I am just now reading this! Does anyone know which dealer in Indiana might have taken the other 50 2015?

Thanks
