Searching for Dry Roads
I can see in Yamaha's mind the '16 is a fifth generation bike...good thing we all know it's a fancy GEN III.

Thanks Iris. I now have a gen 3......Whoopee!I have to say I agree with the 2016 being the 5th generation. I'm glad someone said it.To me I always thought the
2003 was part of gen 1
2004-05 gen 2
2006-12 gen 3
2013-15 gen 4
2016 gen 5
It makes perfect sense to me that way and always has.
Yeah, great. Now I have a Gen3 with a non-functioning cruise control. Dang! Something else around here that needs fixing...Thanks Iris. I now have a gen 3......Whoopee!I have to say I agree with the 2016 being the 5th generation. I'm glad someone said it.To me I always thought the

Yeah, call it whatever ya want, just don't call me late fer a ride!
And then you'll notice questions that have already been answered in the depths of their precious "database" are not allowed and Cuntbags like Redfish will harass you for asking about how to make your FJR work better for your riding style.Hey welcome aboard, the first thing you will find on this forum is that someone will have a different opinion. This is my first post, so here it goes. The boot covers, cover that beautiful motor and that is why they are an option. I moved from an ST 1300 that had a completely enclosed motor, except the plastic valve covers. That open area on the FJR actually shows most of that 1300 work of art, and it should be visible. I would never cover it up. The FJR is unique in the sport touring segment in this regard. Yamaha should be proud of showing off that in-line four.
Granted, the BMW shows off the boxer, but it is not in the same class as the FJR.
