So for the new guys who were thinking about participating this year, have any of you signed up? Curious if Mike and I are being good influences.......
Don't drag me into this Chuck. I don't want to be blamed if they start talking about their new addiction. Wives complaining that they never go out to eat on Saturdays nights anymore because their man would rather be out riding collecting memorials in far away lands. Kids always wondering who that strange, weather beaten, frazzled man is who shows up late Sunday nights on the door step. Geez, and to think that was only three years ago. Dang that was fun!! Besides, wives can be taken out for dinner during the winter. Right??!!

Good deal guys! Glad to see 2 more worthy vicitims participants!

I thought that was the whole purpose of not being able to ride in the winter as well. Bank up some time with the family so that we could have the riding season for ourselves......

Actually the Tour can be a great opportunity to involve family. Perhaps you or your spouse have family who served. Maybe the kids are studying one of the wars in their history classes. Speaking only for myself I'm chomping at the bit for April 1 and the release of the list of memorials! BTW, if you 2 are both attending EOM this year, I've managed to snag memorials on the way to and from the event and this past year one of the routes went directly past a memorial so I even keep that in mind when picking which routes to ride. Good luck and safe travels to all! Feel free to PM me if you need any help or advice.

2 weeks to go, who else is getting a little antsy to get this show on the road?

The rider roster is inching ever so closer to that 600 mark.

My third year of the ToH. I love the way you ride at your own pace and really enjoyed every minute of it. A great way to ride and experience new places I would have never thought to go to.

I'm getting antsy for a ride period.

I've been aware of the April 1st release but in the meantime it's looking like I might be heading back to Moonshine for the last one. So little by little I've been playing with routes in Basecamp with the thinking that I'll be all brushed-up on that program for when I get the ToH memorials. But somehow it didn't occur to Bonehead here until just now to try and incorporate some grabs along the way. I didn't leave much room for diversions so it looks like I might be tweaking the routes a bit after the 1st.

Btw, still trying to stay positive but with all the talk of this Forum being on life-support, does the other sandbox or somewhere else have a similar thread?

I wish I had time to go to Moonshine. I have never been and now it looks like I never will. <sigh>

You know, until you mentioned "life support", I didn't know that the conditions here were so dire. But if the other sandbox doesn't have a thread about the TOH, there's nothing to say that one can't be started.

"...grabs along the way." I think that's what makes this particular rally so much fun for me. That no matter what trips a person may have lined up, it's always made so much more enjoyable if you can incorporate a few TOH memorials into the travel plans. Gauranteed to take one off of the beaten path and into areas you otherwise wouldn't get a chance to see. Also many times you get a little history lesson to boot.

Glad t have you come out and participate dingrr! I'm combining TOH with the IBA Pressed Penny Challenge this year which I was able to start already so I have more reasons to go riding than ever. Looking forward to an awesome and full riding season!

Year before last, the first two hours of TOH involved a biblical downpour. I was soaked to the skin, from the neck down. So I was wet for a very long time. Warmed up and dried out a little by midday. Finishing up the day, temps (now in the mountains) were back down to the upper 40s. Very tiring. Ive got a little better gear these days. Hoping for good weather nonetheless.

I've been preoccupied since Saturday. Looks like good weather in my state for 1 April. I had hoped my last ride (SS1K 10.7.17) would have been certified by the IBA by now, but it's still in the queue somewhere.

With Easter being the first day and for my pillion for this year, her daughter's birthday I don't foresee getting out on day 1.I'm looking at the bright side though it gives me more time to come up with a plan for the following weekend. We're talking about leaving right after work that Friday and making a weekend of it hitting TOH memorials and pressed penny machines for our IBA challenge.

I'll be attempting a Trophy ride on Sunday. I have probably ridden about 200 miles in 2018, so maybe I won't have the stamina to complete it. Sad

Did Georgia today. Jesus tap dancing Christ there were a lot of deer out between 3am and daylight. No exaggeration- if I hadnt had auxiliary lighting, Id have hit four or five of them. I saw around 60. Sixty. No telling how many I didnt see. #clearwaterlights.

Didn't see one deer yesterday morning in SC. I guess they all moved next door.
