220mph indicated on Busa

So, twice as fast would be 280 and, by my math, 50% faster would be about 210, right?
I wouldn't have guessed 140 by looking at your video either. It sure seems faster in person. So, on those other rides in the mountains, you're probably averaging about 90, eh? ;) Damn, you are fast! I am not worthy.
Um, yup. Your new math works. ;)

No, the 'mountain' roads are closer to 60 to 70 tops. Average is prolly closer to 40. You gotta keep in mind that the proximity of the landscape makes a big difference in the sensation of speed through the lens. Closer fence posts whip by faster than those further away and the camera exacerbates the issue. That 140 seems slower on film than the actual experience. Really. I'm not all that comfortable running over a ton and I was puckering a bit to get that footage.

Watch the Tach. He hits 220 and the tach hits 9.5k and then goes to 11k.
Yep. When the speedo hits 220 he's still accelerating. Notice also that he shifts out of first at 80 mph. And drops down from his wheelie at 140. Hmmmm.

All in all, I'd guess something fishy is going on with the speedo. Fun to watch, anyway.

Word. I usually hit the internal governor at about 130. Things just overload my senses at that input rate. Maybe if I had some real desolate stretch of road, but you're covering a lot of real estate at those speeds.

...and I was puckering a bit to get that footage.
Hell, my stomach was dropping out just watching a couple of those rises go out from underneath. Ya get a little weightless there?

From my very limited Busa knowlege, I wouldn't imagine that's impossible. I've heard of guys wheelying those things at 180+. Not my cup of tea, but I knew some guys when I was younger woulda loved to have that kind of juice available.

Just a bit. The one that really did it for me was the one that Highlander brought us over at about 120 MPH up on his little Hwy 120 loop on the Yosemite trip. I got head shake pretty bad when the wheel came back to terra firma. :scare: Not fun.

I will say that at 1 1/2 ton on the FJR, the bike is rock solid, its my ability to process information that fast that's lacking. Really, things come at you very quickly, and then the little voice in my head says, ""1 jackrabbit+145 mph=1 death, yours!" That's about the time my hand rolls the righthanded twisty thing forward.....

And, no, it's not my 'Busa. It was forwarded to me so I sent it to some on my email list. I must agreee that the "driveways or turn-throughs" in the peripheral vision don't pass all that quickly, but we don't know their dimensions. If Pashnit has proven trickery, I'd go with that. Thy're a pretty savvy bunch.

it's altered ,,,

I have some experience at speeds in excess of 200,, drag bike, drag car, land speed racing,

but it's fun to watch

You guys are stoned. That looks real to me. Unless the dials were changed or the secondary gear ratio was modified.

The needle is pinned at 220 mph and the tach keeps going another 1k.

BTW the speedo and tach are indicated by the ECU based on teh vehicle speed sensor. Nothing is taken directly off the wheel. So, perhaps there is some foolery there. The other odd thing is no rev limiter, @ >2k above redline?

That ride definitely happened. At what speed exactly remains to be seen.

Not kph - the inner scale shows kph.

It looks that fast to me. The lines are flying. Plus you have to remember, there is no perspective (wide) angle on this camera, so you cannot actually see sideways. When the lines and side roads pass out of the view, they still may be far off, and this gives the appearance of slower velocity.

who looks side ways when going 200mph?

was on my bike had the chance to run it up to about 120 looks the same 120 tops enough said let it rest.............. excuses, excuses, eccuses :p

I'd say the speedo is definitely indicating 220.

It's amazing what a 155 tooth rear sprocket will do. :bleh:

C'mon people! This bogus vid's been ripped apart all over the 'net long ago! It's BS, pure and simple. It's Km's, first off, and prolly a huge rear sprocket that's throwing off the speedo. Another reason it still revved more at top end.
