Haven't been riding near enough so wanted to get out and log some miles, as well as see some good sites.

NorCA is always good for that so I aimed that direction. I had wanted to hit a couple of new roads (east of Mendocino) that Tyler had mentioned. Unfortunately I didn't get that far ...as I got to be having too much fun on some old favorites. Next time though.

I'm jealous John...very cool scenery.

Man did those pictures you took in the early morning sunlight ever turn out great!!

You ride more than a bit out of everyone's range, you take the road less traveled... You deserve that private playground John!! :D

Awesome pix RJ. I enjoyed the ride-along. Some of those sure didn't look like FJR kind of roads to me but you proved me wrong. Thanks for the detailed ride report and photos.

I can relate to the long, long day and covering lots of miles, But how do you find time to set up all those wonderful shots along the way? My hat is off to you.......but I'll keep my helmet on,( thanks). It must have something to do with the GPS that finds those Post Offices and City Halls in the middle of nowhere. I'm really amused. Thanks

I love Cecilville road and I love the Forks to Etna even more. You are right on with your reservations about 96; there are much more interesting remote roads to enjoy. I chuckle at your late day run to Hayfork and back. That is some fun riding.

Once again your passion for this crazy necessary rejuvinating sport is cleverly shared. Kudos!!!!!

Alan

It hadda be hard passing up Psychedelic Night. :lol2:
You have no idea. .....All I had to do was stick around for a few hours, ....but had to keep the wheels turning :-(

Was that a Sasquatch cavorting in the waterfall? If so, then that video is worth a lot of money.
You are the only one who caught it -Yep Sasquatch, and a devilishly handsome one at that. I've changed the report so that people will know what they're actually seeing in that rare and sought-after BigFoot video. Good eye Jack.

FJR does fine in mild dirt ....it is those tight hairpin bumpy narrow twisties that it takes some strength to wrestle it through. A great bike, she loves to run.

1) how do you find time to set up all those wonderful shots along the way? 2) It must have something to do with the GPS that finds those Post Offices and City Halls in the middle of nowhere. I'm really amused. Thanks

1) almost all shots were taken from the bike .....so wheels were turning --uhh, except for the stops to phuck around and such :)

2) No, everything I rode I've done numerous times so, while I had a GPS I never used it for routing this trip ...just went out and played moto-bike. I should have used it and been more disciplined to get down to Orr Rd .....but I was having fun just goofin' around.

3)Yes, Cecilville road is a favorite of mine. Only a few times east->west with the majority the other way. I really enjoyed E-->W yesterday, ...also virtually no traffic. Weekdays really make a difference. When you say forks to Etna, I'm assuming you mean Sawyers Bar ...Yes that road is totally yummy as well.

4.) Amen brother, I'm with you.

5.) Ya had to visit my friend Mary Jane at Rompin Rhonda's, oh and the good roads too. At the time I was still considering taking 3 to 36 or Wildwood to 36 ....but opted for the more fun choice of back to 299

I've been over most of those roads and I'm here to say that reading one of RJ's reports is the next best thing to being there, especially with his running commentary and outgoing personality. For example, I've ridden past that community center without a second thought. Not RJ. He's been given the key to the city, and gives us a guided tour.

Thanks Lewis, Kind words. BTW, this morning just broke out some Taylor's Sausage from Cave Junction. .....that is the best stuff in the world, we need to get the key to that place.
