When I left for work this morning it was 21 degrees, and it is snowing right now. I have a gut feeling all the snow will be gone by the time I head home.

The last two weeks here in Reno/Carson City has had only a single day with temp about 30 degree when I left for work. I also need to get off my butt and get the hand guards.

Temps like these above are exactly why I live in Florida......should be about 75 degrees for the 18 mile ride home this evening. I lived in Germany many years ago and rode in temps near 35 but anything below that produces to much ice in the shadows for me. Good luck guys....I love your dedication!

Teh-hee-hee... You poor bastiges! I had to take the liner out of my jacket this am. Too friggin' warm! :bleh:
Wonderful sunny California, 36 degrees this morning and I did keep the liner in my GX Air Jacket.

No electric stuff for me yet. Maybe if I ride over the Sierras this winter. You guys have fun where its cold and stay warm and safe.

Yep...29 is a lot colder than it used to be...on my BMW K1200LT.

It had such better protection, plus heated grips and seats.

Still trying to figure out how to keep myself warm on this wonderful (new) bike.

My main problem is the metal tank chilling my inner thighs.

You ******* ! Try that **** here in Michigan ! Where yes, it was onlt 29 degrees by my thermostat whe n I left home today on the Feej too.

Alright, last time I'm likely to try that in 2007 , it's on for next year though !

You ain't done yet are ya chooser? Except for the winds the last few days it's been comfortable.

The cold stuff is weeks away, though I see they are saying it's gonna get interesting tomorrow night. bet they miss again.... as always.

:jester:

how did that work out for ya???
Er.... this is not me in this picture.

I may be crazy, but not insane. (well.... not clinically, anyway. :D )

While I do have a silver Blackbird as pictured above and ride to work in sub-freezing temps routinely, I (personally) draw the line on riding to work when accumulated snow/ice is involved.

A casual look at the photo will clearly indicate this it was not taken in the USA. The license plates and vehicles suggest a European location. Another indicator that it is not a USA location is the front fender decal of this Blackbird, which says "CBS" ("Combined Braking System"). Blackbirds sold here use the "LBS" (Linked Brake System) nomenclature.

The rumor on this photo is that this dude road to work in the morning on dry roads, it started snowing in the early-mid afternoon, and this was him on his way home.

The coldest I ever rode to work was late December, 1998.

It was 6 degrees F.

It was one of the coldest (and fortunately, driest) winters on record. This was done on a Honda ST1100. On a pair of Dunlop (!) K591s... not a whole lot of leaning going on that day.

Since I have a 55 mi commute each day and with the price of gas zooting, I have been farkling up for cold rides. For those that have added the V-Strom hand guards, might I suggest some of these:

Guard Extenders

They'll help keep your pinkies comfy...

Had my FJR out for 80+ minutes last Sunday-"balmy" 37F with wind. The Gerbing electric gear did its usual good job of keeping me reasonably warm, but at those temps (or lower...) the FJR's wind protection sure suffers compared to my GL 1800s! On those in mid-lo 20s I could ride @ 3 hours, face shield up. Not on the FJR! Still, while a GL 1800 is a truly amazing bike I'll stick with my FJR! As freezing rain is due later....not the day to ride or take out the Corvette!! Where izz SPRING when ya need it??! DFO :D

The guy said his local Suzuki dealer charged him $90. I just got a kit from my local dealer for $54...
