I went to a Harley Davidson dealer yesterday to look at what they had for rain suits. I may take my bike up to Taxachusetts this weekend from Connecticut, but we may have rain up there this weekend.

The Jacket had the Harley Davidson logo and name on it. $215.00 dollars. The pant were $185.00. I told the sales laddy that was more than I had in mind for what I would pay for a rain suit. But she said I would only need one instead of having to by several cheep one as they ware out too fast. Needless to say, I passed.

Next I stopped in at Japanese bike dealer and got a rain suit made by First Gear for under $100.00 dollars. It dose not have a Harley Davidson logo. But I still have an extra $300.00 dollars in my pocket. :yahoo:

WOW! $400 for rain gear huh? That's recockulous.

That's about how much I have in my Olympia AST jacket and FirstGear pants. And not only do they act as rain gear, but they're all season pieces of gear AND offer protection in the event of a get-off.

Has less than that in my first 3 cars, they kept me dry too. Well, for the most part.

Ya, but you don't have that cool HD logo that screams "Hey, look at me! I don't fear road rash or bustin' my skull open like a watermelon, just don't let me get wet!!", now do you, Mr. Fancy Gear ;)

Imagine the price of it with a BMW logo on it! Cha-ching!
Actually, I found one last year at the BMW dealership in Daytona, FL for $350, but it was a damn good rain suit and pretty much worth it, except even the XXXXL didn't fit me. It was a one-piece and the measurement along the spine was too short to stand up in, much less crouch over a bike.

However, they do have $850 boots there, with nothing special except the BMW logo on them.

[Edit: missed obligatory racist comment about ******* short-arse Huns]

I think I paid about $50 for my Nelson Rigg rain suit, works fantasticly!! is that a word? still waiting for it to wear out, it's going on 7 years old.

Betcha nasa has a rain suit that costs more then that....................

I was expecting the untouchable gunmd to mention fish food......but, that was just a premeditated thought.

As others, I've done alot of activities in the rain, there's really good gear (Goretex etc.) and really bad gear out there and everything in between. I'll spend the extra $ to be dry (and warm) because I've skimped on the other end of the $pectrum in the past. I don't give a $hit what the product is emblazoned with (as long it isn't black & orange! 8*)......kidding :yahoo:

Ride for a day in a cheep suit...soaking wet....wake up next day with rain/rain/rain....repete/repete/repete.....now tell me that pricey gear is too expensive!

If a ANY rider is riding in the rain, I commend them !!

Damn, my rainsuit only cost $10. I would feel inadequate, except for the fact that my ***** is large.

GUNNY! Nothing worse than a wet crotch!* Tourmaster used to be "not much better than a garbage bag" crap, but in the last year or so their stuff has improved greatly w/o increasing so much in cost. My major problem is finding something to keep the shoes dry that packs down. Either it's "huge NASA moonboots that take up half a sidebag" or it's "weenie little slipover that has no traction and leaks like a sieve" and not much in between.

* paging Odot to the white courtesy phone!

$400 for a Harley rainsuit sounds good, to me. You should have bought it. That $100-dollar suit you picked up, is probably Korean-made junk. Wait and see - the first time you wear it, the logo will wash off.

Harley rainsuits, keep their logos. And, they sound good. Just like a tin roof.
