OK, well, I've got Joe Rocket Ballistic rain pants and jacket and it was about $375 bucks in total. Sure at HD you're likely going to pay a premium just for the name, and so is true about BMW stuff. Most of the good textile rain/cold weather gear is going to cost some money. Rain 'shells' and the like are going to be less expensive.

If I had a nickle for every post I've read that bashes Harley Davidson, I'd be friggin rich moe fo!

ZW

Nothing worse than a wet crotch!
It does make it a little hard to tote 'em like a bowling ball.
 Damn Scab, funny stuff. It prolly shoulda waited til Friday though. Seems like you posted something about a shocker earlier... need to go for a ride, one or the other.

There's some truth to the cheap rainsuit/expensive rainsuit argument, imo. I've bought many cheap/ill-fitting/leaky rainsuits -- and they probably all add-up to more money than one good rainsuit that will fit and last/not leak for years (Rukka).

H-D stories:

  • Motorcyclist to H-D Biker, "Why don't you guys have rainsuits?"H-D Biker, "That's what bars are for."
  • Motorcyclist at a rest stop, "Boy, there's nothing worse than being cold and wet."H-D Biker, "Except, maybe, cold and wet and hungover."

I think that I have that same Harley Rain Suit.

It is Gortex and you can wear it in Florida and not lose 20 lbs sweating in the heat. It also packs very small when traveling.

It is worth it to have a great suit that will last and not be toooooo hot!

Usually the Harley stuff is expensive, but it works great and lasts.

The Harley rain jacket I tryed on at the dealer had no draw string at the bottom of the jacket. My $60.00 First Gear jacked has one. I asked the sales lady about it and she justified the lack of the draw sting at the bottom of the jacket by saying, "the pants have one at the top to keep the rain out of the pants".

My First Gear jacket also has an elastic belt halfway up to my chest to keep the jacket a little tighter in the wind. The Harley Jacket did not have that feature ether.
